Handling Query

Hey

Since having the Mugen Suspension, Mugen Tower Strut and the cars bushes changed for Polly ones the car seems to react very differently when at high speeds...Even on minor corners; The best way I can describe it as "light" as if if the front end is trying to break away. Under heavy breaking the same sensation for the front end loosing grip is there. It's not a feeling that inspires confidence while pushing the car. This was never there with the standard suspension and bushes, it always felt very planted... not anymore =/

Any Ideas?

Cheers

What kind of road surface are you driving on? Weather conditions? What's your geo settings?

Lastly who fitted your bushes and suspension?

You may need a fast road set up as your alignments are probably out due to all that work

whenever you stifen the suspension you risk affecting the handling significantly, especially on our bumpy roads. whoever fitted the bits should have reset the geo, even a degree or two can make a huge difference

Hey

I went and had a 4 wheel alinement done straight after picking it up; That said... it wasn't done anywhere fancy i.e a tuning specialist.. The bushes were also not done anywhere special just a local garage and while he had the suspension off to do them I asked him to swap it for the Mugen set up.
As for weather conditions it does it in both the wet and dry... I can't tell you the geo setting as I haven't a clue what the garage left them at =/... Sounds like I need a Fast road set up possibly

Cheers

I cant say I've notice additional body roll but is it going to be something because the car is lower so requires something like buddy club roll center adjusters?

how low have you gone?

have you fitted a rack riser? thought they were a bit of a fad but i've been told by a few places now they make a hell of a difference when you're lowing the car

these cars seem to be quite sensitive to changes

It's only a 15/20mm drop...I think something may have been fitted wrong because the car has now started to pull sharply to the right when you accelerate from low down in second gear...Also noticing a "clunk" sound as you go over bumps

What you mention could be alignment, possibly caster adjustments.

Another one and this could be a possibility... the damper could of fail or running inefficient.
If one damper had fail, it could give that feeling also but you will notice it more over bumps.

Also, I think the Mugen suspensions mount the track rod end upside down.
So that mean if you have a rack spacers, you could over compensate the suspension.

Hey
I'll get it looked at by a more "tuning" orientated company...See if its just been set up wrong =/ Suspension had covered about 8000miles when I bought it was in pretty good nick; only the odd blemish
