Hi Dan

Quick question, to go to 297bhp NA power, whats the cost involved ? then we can compare to SC or Turbo route :?:

Honda UK gave us a devlopment budget of £75,000 and we spent it all......

I could replicate it for approx £4,500 don't forget ECU on top plus engine life was race use only.

Did a 323bhp @ 8,000 V6 ford 2ltr once for Cosworth........ Each engine cost £45,000.......

Thanks for the Info Dan,

The forced induction route is cheaper at the end of the day. But, some poeple prefer NA all the way.

Cheers for the input

297 NA bhp sounds like good value for £4.5k! I assume this is really more like £6k with a Kpro or AEM chip though...

Just out of interest, what sort of output could you achieve for day to day road use without compromising engine life too much, and how much would this cost?

Cheers

That 4.5k is just the engine. Doesn't include removing it and re-fitting it afterwards.

250bhp (270bhp on ITBs) can be done reliably if you let your oil warm up and ensure the sump is always full. It takes cams, pullies, head skim, manifold, de-cat, ECU & dyno time to achieve. The increase in torque is huge 4-6krpm

Cost approx £4,500 +VAT

Quick question. Saw you add in Jap Perfomance Mag. How much do you charge for a 20k service on a DC5?

Jakan,

how much for DC5 front brake pads fitted ? and whats the lead time on the parts? I just noticed that you are only a few miles from me, so it may be easier for me to come your way instead of going to my honda dealer in birmingham.

It depends on what kind of work it is. We could certainly fit you in for a pad change and oil service next week.

Call 01327 705550 to book in.

Cheers

this is sad. its disgusting why there isn't a specialist shop available where i'm based to help me get my NA 300 whp target. all i'm relying on are bits and pieces of everything from across the pond

hehe.

I have a spare double room at my house if you wanna rent it out and live near a tuning centre for dc5 :)

I can build, run in and map you a 300 WHP NA engine here and have it sent out to you. 370bhp at the crank should do it.

Would be really nice to do. Dry sump, titanium rods valves etc, tiny pistons, non-vtec 12,000rpm

If your serious please get in touch d.turner@jakan.co.uk

i hope u are not kidding....... how much would an engine like dat run me into? just the engine that is. plus, i'm all for that 12,000 rpm NA zing in my ears but i'd seriously prefer to retain some low end driveability and engine reliability with a larger displacement (maybes a K24?) to get those figures.

time to start saving.........
