help please!! car won't rev past vtec point

I had my kpro and battery disconnected for a few days (why is irrelevant). I put the kpro back in, connected the battery. Now the car won't rev past vtec engagement point in any gear. Any ideas?

Seems like car may be in limp mode

This would happen on the older hondas if the vtec solenoid filter was blocked. Worth checking.

it was driving perfect before I took the ecu out and I wasn't at the engine while the ecu was unplugged

Vtec on kpro is very simple.
Speed, rpm & load.

Rpm and tps is generally OK.
Speedo working?

update:
The car will not rev past the vtec engagement point and there is no cel on. After driving for a bit the cel comes on and I can rev past the vtec engagement point but no vtec.

sorted, the ecu wasn't getting a speedo signal
