Hi Guys,

i need to replace the rear wheel stud how do I take the existing one out ? one of my wheel nuts snapped in half and now i cant get them out so i was gonna drill through the stud.

Do they just hammer out through the front or are they the type which are welded on ?

ive not been working on the dc5 for long but if its the same as civics, crxs etc, then you would have to dismantle the hub and it shud just hammer out of the brake disc holding circlemeejig, easy to get out and the new one shud be easy to get back in. you may have enough luck to have clearance to hammer it out without dismantling the hub. take the caliper and disc off for a start.

the stud is pressed in from the back of the hub assembly when it is in bits (they have tiny splines and a taper to stop them turning)
, I havent tried to remove a rear one on a dc5 but as Jammy says you should remove disc and caliper then look to hammer the stud towards the car, sometimes the studs will only come out with the hub in a certain position due to clearence problems, they are not welded in.
If you have to break the hub apart it is a hole lot more complicated and best left to a specialist.

if you download the service manual i expect you will find some more info there.

where do you live Phozzy?
