picked mine up on saturday, i love it. The handling is immense, had a civic type r before it and in no way compares to the dc5. I too looked at the rx8 but in the end thought it was an ugly car and the fuel economy sucked. Drive a dc5 and you will be sold!!

Had a friend who owned an RX8 and he was always moaning about how heavy it was on the back tyres as well as the oil.

hmm..the oil seems be the biggest prob rx8 is havin..every1 is sayin the same thing...on other forums too :p will take that into count...

Is it true 2003 n below DC5s/old facelifts have gear box prob or something??

They improved the the gear ratio for the later 1s right?? why was that??just wondering..coz then ill know not to get the old facelift eventhough i love the look a LOT!! :?

Are DC5s short shift?? :p

no it was the ep3 model, and i now know why honda never released the integra in the uk because if they had then they never would have sold a type r civic :D i don;t know about the gear ratio, all i know is that mine is a prefacelift and the gear ratio's are so smooth, the civic's box was very hard to get into gear and felt like it was grinding :? the dc5 eases into each gear effortlessly and the throw is short and precise.

Oh and if you are looking for some stats on the integra here is a link so you can compare weight and anything else  if you go onto front wheel drive and its the dc5 with aircon :D .....

hi there welcome i have a dc5 at the moment and previously had a rx8 . to be honest i kept the rx8 for 8 weeks then got rid of it. the fuel consumption was terrible and where they hid the 231 bhp i dont know because it was really slow and boring to drive. in my opinion the dc5 is a far better drive :D

i did a lot of researching on here first, spent a good couple of weeks searching through posts of reviews etc and decided it had everything i wanted....great handling, rare factor, practicality (4seats massive boot), good fuel economy (better than the ep3 civic, bigger fuel tank aswell), then i went to have a look at a local one for sale at a garage, and the guy was an idiot and didn't have a clue about the car, so then decided to use a specialist imorter who i contacted via email and he had one already in his showroom ready to go, so i traded in and never looked back. Big shout out to mike from torque gt :D

DC5 is good but tbh if you can stretch to the FD2 I would stretch.

As for the DC5 its a great car but lacks a little in the handling department comparing to the FD2 as a standard car, so to get the most out of it you would be advised to sort the suspension out by means of lowering springs and a good Geometry setup. And I would highly recommend a shortshifter of some sort to make those gear changes a little bit more positive.

As for the FD2 (if you have the budget) is great out of the box, pinpoint steering great handling (rides a little harsh dampers are a little stiff) crazy cornering speeds, better pickup from low down and a little stronger in vtec. Plus it has 4 doors (if you need them )

But I have to admit that the DC5 is a prettier car, the FD2 is by no means ugly but the DC5 is pretty all depends what you want from the car and how much you have to spend or want to spend.

Hope that helps :)

Only proof is to drive one yourself mate.

Doesn't matter what videos you see our what people say it normally doesn't convince people.

I own a 2001 dc5. the gearbox is fine, cold or warm.

The extra price you would pay for an FD2..? is more than a gear box. im
sorry but im DC5 al the way! :)
And... its not all about whats faster in a straight line. If thats what you want,
then a friend of mine is selling an E.reg XR2 that puts out about 280bhp.
£1400 ono. LOL

I test drove a DC5 (standard) and one with Eibach fast road set-up before I got mine. All I can say is- fast road set-up transforms the car. I wouldn't have considered a DC5 after driving a standard one! I drive on b-roads a lot tho, so i imagine standard one would be ok on smooth roads..
RX8 uses silly amounts of fuel- impossible to get any more than teens from a gallon in normal circumstances, even when you try to drive as economically as possible
btw 1st to 2nd is dodgy on DC5, but only when 'box is cold.

Mark.

 Wow now thats some engineering I mean the FD2 looks like its bigger than a DC5 and with 4 doors and a boot I reckon it must be heavier so to make it quicker than 5 is quite impressive.

It's bigger and slightly heavier than the DC5 but the FD2 has more power, bigger brakes, a stiffer bodyshell, different gear ratios, different LSD and different suspension. I'm sure there's something else i've missed.

Still impressed because more dosn't always mean better there are plenty of cars out there that have more power than the DC5 but wouldn't be able to hold a candle to one on the track take the new RS Focus 300bhp through the front wheels and weighing nearly 2 tons I'll be surprised if this could do a lap quicker than a DC5 even with all that power.
