HID issues

Ok I have a just had a HID bulb go. I am going to order another one tomorrow but my question is when I turn the lights on there is a cracking sound coming from the ballast pack with the broken bulb.

I have removed the connection will I be able to use my lights without damaging anything until I have a new bulb put in?

Removed the connection to the bulb or ballast?

If the connection to the bulb has been removed and you still get the cracking sound it would point to a faulty ballast.

If the above does not apply then yes you will be able to use your lights without damaging anything but you can't drive around at night with one headlight!

Thanks for the reply the connection to the bulb was already off but I have removed the ballast as well to be sure. Just hoping it isn't screwed as I am already coughing up for a new bulb!
