Hello , picked my 5 up today after its mot (past again) ha ha, and thought I'd go for a run the long way home being such a nice day . I've noticed on a hot day my vtec cuts in later than a cold day like almost 6k is this norm or could it be down to the 0w40 oil I'm rocking ? What you think :)

6000rpm is when VTEC should cut in, unless of course you have an aftermarket ECU map.

Yep, temperature should make no difference other than when the engine is cold in which case vtec won't engage at all.

40 weight oil is slightly thicker (compared to 30), so would give an increase in pressure normally.

Ill be running Mobil 1 0w40 myself, i ran my B16 on it with no issues.
