finally passed ESVA yesterday, a couple of minor faults
and a couple of sticky bits, they were all cheap and
easy to sort apart from the tyres, now on Goodyear F1 GSD3s.
from my limited driving so far i would say they are good news
the ride has softened a bit and appear to be grippy in dry and wet,
when we took the Yokos off they are a hard old tyre,
the goodyears feel softer and a lot more complient .
any way, finally on the road.
anybody got any queries about the ESVA i would be happy
to assist in any way i can, having just been through the hole thing
even doing all the convserion work myself !!!!
let the modding begin
:D :D :D

Good news 8)

Did you have the Yoko A046 tyres?

Ive tried F1s on old cars and i thought they were great, only problem ive heard lately about them is the soft tyre walls.

Yes, the Advan A-046. As fitted by honda i guess. went out last
night and finally stretched the cars legs, including some
enthusiastic cornering and the tyres felt good. As for side wall
issue i could not comment, not enough experience i'm afraid.
The GS d-3s were not cheap but seem more than capable
on the road for my driving !!

I've not tried the Advan's but I've had Goodyear F1's. They melted on the track quite badly in the dry parts of the summer but were perfect in the wet. The side walls do get scrubbed down very quickly on the track. I had to chuck mine in the end because of this, even though they had plenty of grip elsewhere. Great on the road but a bit too soft on the track. I'm trying the new Toyo T1-Rs now. They key difference over the T1-S seems to be the tyre wall is tougher. I'll let you know how I get on next time I track.

its a one off, the ministry inspects the car to make sure it largely
conforms to a uk spec vehicle.
mot as normal if it is 3 years or over
