mine will be very subtle ... no false floors, lighting tubes and multiple amps!!!
my car will retain as OEM as much as possible in terms of mods i decide to do or certainly be easily converted back. the sound system will be made up of 3 way component up front, sub and 5 channel amp with my newly purchased pioneer head unit and possibly the purchase of an external dsp to fine tune the speakers and it will be standard across the car. the build in relation to the sub is an expensive part as i want a tidy set up without losing valuable boot space!
the installer i am using has done a couple of dc5's in the past and seems to know where the priority lies in the dc5 in terms of sound deadening ... doors need fully coated and a few areas in the back end but as the sound will be very much frontal based they will be doing the most there, the sub will be in the back just adding a bit of punch and it will be around 10" in size ... NO RACKET!.
its not enough to ruin the characteristics of the car ... yes may add a bit more weight but i can live with that. i need to lose the lbs anyway!!!!
the likes of JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate are all still in business along with a lot of new names ... well to me anyway. lots of choice and everything to suit everyone's wallet and budget. you would be surprised how many players are still in the game and equally in terms of new business
BTW i flicked through this section of the forum and there has been some nice builds done and you can see what owners have done so good to know there are others out there like me!
