Spend it on driver training ?

Saved me 2-3 seconds on a track just under a mile

I have done 4 or 5 full training days now, ask Mike how much faster, and much better I can drive now, booking up a day with Don Palmer next month, to improve my technique.

At Bedford on the 14th after some training with Don (15 minutes), I found myself catching much much faster cars in the wet, with little tread.

This is interesting.
Are there any well recognised track driving courses?
Who do you recommend?
What are the costs and do you learn in your own car or in a different car?

Trung there is only 2 people I have used Don Palmer who focuses on Creative Car control, at Brunters, oversteer, understeer, heel and toe, balancing the car on brakes and throttle etc not strictly track biased but you can translate it to track work, he is expensive £450.00, but I promise you he will teach you to drive faster and safer, money better spent than on an Induction kit for 2-5bhp.

The main person who has given me training is a guy called Andy Walsh (1st Lotus Training), he offers 2 or 4 person days (£120 or £240), goes through similar stuff, but not as intensive, very relaxed, and sets up a small track in the pm to put your new skills into use. This is based at North weald. Andy is an ex - F1 Benetton test driver BTW.

Ricardo, Ronald, and Henry (all off Honda-R) are booking one soon hopefully.

Don advertises in Evo, and do a search for Andy's website.

Oh and you use your own car, much better to do this as you are more connected to your own car, and have an idea of the limits, although when Andy and Don drive you will realise you are way off

ok £4,000

Ice, Bodykit, and some graphics

dont see the point in spending £4,000 on engine mods and making the car faster cuz end of the day FWD means u cant get the power onto the road as its hard enuff at the minute

Forget the looks. The car looks 8) as it is already

I would spend:

1) 1k on strenghteninig bottom end
2) 2.5k on custom turbo
3) 0.5k on standalone ecu
4) cough up another 0.5k on tuning if you can't tune yourself.

This way I can have a 300-350hp car running low boost for street use and 500+hp car on high boost for track use...

and I would spend my own extra cash on wheels/tyres/suspension/brakes setup for track..... Thats assuming the 4k fell outta sky into my sweaty palms of course
