Insurance Numbers

Having the fun task of phoning about for insurance and quotes have gone from mildly amusing to downright stupid amounts of money.

So have created the following list of insurance companies that will quote on the DC5. Some of the over 30 ones might not quote on the DC5 cause I couldn't get any further in the process, but they know about Jap imports and Integra’s.

For a 26 year old 3 NCB, driveway, good postcode
Standard Direct Line were the best for exhaust + Air intake Norwich Union. So will take my renewal with NU and add the mods.

Heres the all important numbers if anybody knows any more then please post them as my insurance won't be renewed for another week. Had spaced it out but the board stripped it all out

8) 8) 8) There's been rumblings about doing this for ages but noone's actually bothered - and you must have phoned loads considering the ratio of those who DON'T quote on the DC5.

Many thanks corbie :xnworthy:

Yeah started at A and went up to Z. Probaly a few companies missed but it's a start.

Found some websites that list insurance companies for other Jap imports and started phoning them most said no but some kept saying until it becomes more common they wouldn't bother adding it to there lists as its not worth there effort ](*,) . Eh it takes 10 mins @ 4.50 an hour to type in Integra, 2000cc, etc. and you can charge ££££'s for the privalge doesn't make business sense to me.

The price we pay for owning a rare car 8)

Been only 23 I think it is worth noting that Tesco are the only company prepared to insure me. I have tried all the big boys most of them say you need to be over 25/30. Funny how Tesco can offer me a policy and Direct Line can't. Direct Line, as pointed out are under writers for Tesco. To add insult to injury I have used Direct Line since I was 18 and have built up 4 Yrs NCD with them.

Anybody have any recommendations for us younger folk??

My experience yesterday is that Tesco "mirror" the DC5 as the DC2, not the CTR as I thought. Sadly, this means you must have two years NCB to insure an ITR (2 or 5) with them - you don't need it for the CTR though.

Thanks for the list of numbers, corbie - if you rung all of them then you're more patient than I am! :xnworthy:. Now all we need is for the insurers to put the DC5 on their standard list.. It's just taken me an hour and a half to get through four companies, after which I lost the will to live.

Currently drive a UK DC2, policy expires tomorrow, DC5 due in a fortnight. I'm a thirtysomething with full NCD and a garage in a reasonable postcode, but no radar detector... Here's a summary of my findings which might be useful for anyone looking to move from a DC2 to a DC5:

Tesco: DC2 £695, DC5 £974

Flux: didn't give me exact prices as they'd asked what I'd already been quoted, said they couldn't beat £800 for the DC2 or £1000 for the DC5.

A-plan: said they couldn't cover the DC2 as they only do imports (!), DC5 £1056

LV: DC2 £664, didn't get a quote for the DC5 as 'they're trying to phase out imports to focus on standard UK cars', and 'couldn't find an exact match for "2004 Integra Type R 2.0 litre"'.. I was pretty persistent as they had beaten Tesco for the DC2 but she wasn't having it. I wondered if I'd rung again and got someone different then that might have been a goer, but I just couldn't be bothered.

Tesco for me then. Now all I need is for the bl**dy car to turn up...

Insurance

Hi...
I got insured on a DC5 fro £1,350. 5 years NC but 1 accident in the last 5 years. Iam 26. I found it to be a reasonable price. THey are quite good as they said that they havent got a DC5 on their system but they are still willing to insure a DC5. They will update the papers to say its a DC5 before i get them.

The insurer is Keith Michaels and the number is 02086427868
