Intermittent squeaky gearbox

Hi all,

For the second time now (in the last couple of weeks) my gearbox has started squeaking when moving the gearknob side to side... it's a pretty loud squeak and can be heard from outside of the car - also feels like there is a bit more resistance? The engine is switched off and I've just dipped the clutch when putting it into each gear on the video:

Last time it did this, it was fine the next morning - but I'm guessing something needs greasing, although I'm not mechanically minded at all!

Any advice, help welcome.

Thanks,
Ash

dry balls!

sounds like you need to pull your gaitor back and get some silicone spray in your box, gaitor unclips with cup holder panel as one piece. your gear stick is mounted via a ball and socket arrangement, side to side, linked to a pivot arm lever, forward and back, sounds like it needs a good lube up..make sure what you use is suitable on plastics though. some sprays might make it worse.
