Mugen air box rescue!

Hey all,

So I got this Mugen airbox from an ep3 for no cost but unfortunately is not in good condition. Someone has cut it for some unknown reason and I would like to fix it by fiber glass maybe?

I will bring the filter to a specialist to give me some suggestions do you think is reparable?
Also the filter has seen better days, is there any replacement (K&N?) which fits? or should I buy a kit and try to clean it?

Isn't the bit thats cut the bit that goes to the inlet? So should be some sort of flange/lip there?

Looks like its been cut to house a generic cone filter/ short ram intake and prevent heat soak. Looks butchered! Lol

Anything is repaireable, just depends on how good a finish you would want. Fibreglass is fairly easy to have a go at.....i say that, its still tricky, but youve got nothing to loose on that for starters. It would just be a case of finding a generic plastic duct thats the same size as the oem inlet hose, holding it in place, fibreglass over the lot, sand it smooth, and then painting the lot. easy in text...., bit of a project in reality. Lol

it needs to have a second hole put in line with the bottom one.

As for the filter, could try and source a used one, im unsure on any aftermarket replacement, and new is pricey if memory serves me correctly. But if that one isn't ripped, a good clean up and it should still operate the same way. Its not seen when it's sandwiched between the base and the lid.

Thanks guys, will be looking at a used filter or a K&N replacement. If found then will take it for fixing
