New Clutch... :-(

Morning,

Not been on for a while so firstly.... Merry Christmas everyone.

For a while now my clutch has progressively been getting worse, it's now slipping quiet a bit and it's getting harder to change gear so time for a new one.

Now I've contacted my local Honda dealer who have quoted me £800.00 fitted inc VAT (£320 for the clutch assembly itself).

The problem I have is that I may, this is only may, sell the car first quarter of next year so could do with getting this sorted but don't want to spend a fortune on her.

Any ideas if this is a good price or maybe someone could point me in the right direction?

Cheers

I paid £430 all in at TGM!!!

That was clutch, gearbox oil and clutch fluid, fitted!

That was quick....

Yeah just had a look at TGM... 120 miles from me, I suppose even if I add on the fuel it's going to come no way near what Honda are asking... I'll give them a call now see what they say

Where are you located? Never go to a stealer if there is a Specialist nearby!

I'm in Coventry Dotty.

Just spoke to Tom at TGM (helpful chap), £450.00 all in. Even with a 240 mile round trip so let's say a full tank of fuel at what £70 odd, price seem very good. He did say I could do a stage 1 clutch which would be the same price, but really think I should keep it stock for selling perposes.

Keep it OEM, there have been problems in the past with after market clutch release bearings, I run near on 260bhp and the OEM clutch is more than fine for this.

Ha ok ok, OEM it is.

Will need to work out my finances then get it booked in... Will be good to go down to TGM after you chaps pretty much recommend them for a lot things, see what all the talks about.

Thanks again chaps I'll keep you posted.

Or get a original honda bearing on a aftermarket clutch and your fine. Stage 1 cc clutch bites well and is easy to drive

cc stage 1 clutch squeels when pulling off. Grabs very well though.

Wouldn't recommend it for a road car unless you're looking for the extra grab.

I have the Exedy Stage 1 and I prefer it to oem. It can take more abuse and has a sharper bite.

The stage 1 TGM supply is a competition clutches one.

Don't bother.
Squeals like a pig and judders like
Hell on take up.

Grabs and bites very well though.

Not recommended for usual road use IMHO.

I only had one fitted as I was supercharged and wanted a bit more beef.

I have a exedy stage 1 and find it great.
Organic ones seem better as that is what I have the Jdm Ctr and it bites better.

Same here, exedy stage 1... No weird sounds or anything... Doesn't like being stuck in traffic though...

I can understand people getting a stage one clutch if the car is tracked frequently, however if you are running under 300bhp, and the car is a road car with occasional track use then there is no need to get anything other than the OEM one.

Afternoon,

The cars going to be booked in early Feb for an OEM clutch and thermostat at TGM. Once that's sorted I'm putting it for sale.

Thanks for your assistant chaps, keep you posted.

Happy New Year.
