Hi everyone I'm new to the fourms and will be getting a fresh import soon. White Pre facelift with red recaros 4b 64k miles. £11.4k

The car is totally standard and I'm looking for some advice on others experience with mods.

First of all I defniantley want the tegiwa intake for the crossover sound unless there's cheaper alternatives. Im also looking for a exhaust system but don't want to be paying loads for one as I've paid top money for this particular car. Would getting the backbox only be decent with a stock b pipe? If not a catback system? I'm not wanting something raspy as I'm not into that and not too loud. Would possibly be looking at a manifold too if someone could recommend one. Would a very quiet exhaust with a decat sound nice? Or stock exhaust with decat?

I think that I defiantly want a k100 map for more drivabiliy as allot of my roads have roundabouts and alot of town driving. No b roads close to me however they are places where I could have abit of fun(speed limits) :) would the car need to be dynod aswell as I noticed this is about 700 quid could you just buy the k100? Also looking for somewhere in the north east of England that are best for this. And any honda specialists in the area for the future.

Possibly looking at lowering the car if someone could recommend springs or if it's best to stay oem.

I plan on keeping the car for a few year so I'm wanting to keep it in the best condition and to prevent rust. Will be a weekend car and not driven in the winter. Would I need to not drive it in the wet for max prevention of rust? If I could have some tips ect..

Any other advice would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance :)

Firstly congratulations on the purchase. Firstly springs, the preferred options are eibach (two diff types) avail or spoon, spoon have the perfect and best stance imo, I ran them with mugen shocks and it looked and drove beautifully.

Eibach one setup people mention gives reverse rake (rear lower than the front) but some mix the two kits to get it level), no experience with Jess myself though so can‘t really comment much more.

Exhaust wise, Kakimoto, Fujitsibu RM01A and Mugen are all very good systems. mugen the quietest, Kakimoto have a distinctive sound and the RM01A was my choice as it‘s an all rounder with superb sound and gains and weighs the least by far.

I run a DC Sport manifold on mine with the RM01A and a K100 along with an AEM long arm CIA in the bumper all mapped and it sounds great.

You won‘t notice anything from just backbox tbh just maybe a little noise but catback etc and a K100 you‘ll need a remap for it to be setup and the afr right.

If you look through my build you‘ll see a lot of he stuff you‘ve mentioned, how the cars sit, the gains and changes had by the mods you mention etc etc. Just get a good underseal on it and enjoy no matter what the weather imo as the least you drive it the more you‘ll be unsure why you have it and wanted it (I‘m a victim of his myself).

Anything else just ask away

But I would recommend the aem long arm filter as it‘s external, one of the best for power gains and sounds epic, main flaw with it is as you'll see in my engine bay shots (the bay looks a bit empty), pro of this is hat everything‘s accessible easier lol

Personally after getting the Tegiwa m (It just has to be done) I would recommend getting the brakes sorted and a decent set of tyres on it first. Makes such a massive difference. Especially as you've got a fresh import and don't know what brakes or tyres it currently has on it.

As Carl said, RM01A is probably your best bet if you don't want a really loud exhaust and it also gives the best options down the line if you want to start chasing power with a k100, exhaust manifold, RBC etc. (might sell mine shortly to upgrade to a solid fab one)

In terms of lowering, a plus 1 for what Carl said with the Eibachs. But be sure if you want to start tracking your teg, then might be worth saving a little for coilovers.

Do some searching yourself man, there's loads of answers to all your questions already on the forum. People haven't got the time to answer them for you.

Drive the car, work out what it needs then do that.

Personally- handling mods come first- Tyres/bushes/coilovers/ARBS and then get a fast road setup.

Thank you everyone for the advice much appreciated:)

And crazylegs the whole point of fourms is to ask questions I'm pretty sure if people havnt got the time for my questions they won't answer them :)

Not when you ask about 6 million questions at once they don't. Just do some research yourself, it's all on here already.

Look mate, feel bad a little and as though I'm having a pop which I didn't mean to so apologies for that. It's just we get people coming on here asking the same questions all the time that's all. Honestly if you do a search for Kpro, k100, exhaust, geometry, suspension - just those key words and you'll most likely find all yours answers, or at least most of them!

Yeah that's fine man I understand people will do it all the time. I'm just excited and I have done alot of research already on youtube ect.. always loved hondas this is my first but I just wanted people's opinions on these fourms as they are obviousley dc5 (enthusiasts) with experience with these cars. The more ideas off more people will make it easier to narrow down my choice for the best possible mods.

Look at Bilt Hamber stuff for undersealing the car. With it being a fresh import it should be really nice underneath.

You can use Dynax UB or UC (clear) underseal and use Dynax S50 for spraying inside the sills, quarter panels and any cavity you can find.

It's quality stuff and one can goes a long way.

Also I don't think newbies should be discouraged from asking questions, forums are a dying breed as it is without discouraging people starting topics.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.....

Thank you Lewis:) I think torque gt are undersealing it. Not sure which stuff they use or how good it is. Maybe it's worth getting the extra like you say. I want to also keep the arches free from rust and the rest of the paint as I'm seeing posts off other people. Don't want to be paying 11 grand for a rusty car haha. Took me ages to save for it but really can't wait to drive it :d

My car also came from Torque GT, and they did a pretty nice job with undersealing the floor and wheel wells but it doesn't go much beyond that.

I removed the sill covers and sprayed inside the sill box sections with the cavity wax and I've sprayed on clear underseal behind the bumpers and just behind the sill covers.

Also removed the rear interior so I could access the inside of the rear quarters and sprayed the cavity wax in there too. Maybe a bit over the top but I've had a few rusty jap imports before I and wanted to keep this car as rust free as possible.

Welcome to the club , I really envy you torquegt import guys. I bought my dc5 in february this year and its had several owners since being imported in 2012 . My biggest issue is rust but you shouldnt have this issue for now .

Mod wise I was lucky that mine came with a k100 ecu and decat exhaust but everything else was standard . I still havent figured out what type or brand of exhaust I have. I would go with intake first , i have an injen intake that i bought 2nd hand off the facebook group . Eventually i might go teg m / grp m but this will do for now . I want to get the fujitsubo exhaust in the future too.

Remapping in August so i plan to share the results . To be honest im just enjoying the car and fixing whatever needs to be fixed along the way , its a project that will never end and I dont mind it .

Enjoy it and make sure to book a track day in the future , that is my goal before end of the year . I have done santa pod twice now but these cars are made for corners .

I think I'l get the sill covers off and do behind the bumpers Lewis cheers

Wish mine had a few mods skengd. cars going to cost about 13.5k with the mods I want  I think I'm going to try get a second hand Fuji. I was looking at the power getter not sure how it compares with the rm01a but sounds abit louder :)

Please share your results after the map and let me know what you think of the difference.

Hi Carl, the RM01A is a great exhaust. Not too loud and very light too. I had a Kakimoto Regu on which came with the car and it was mapped firstly at 221 brake, it was playing up so had it mapped for a second time and power dropped to 211. Changed it for the Fujitsubo and on the third mapping session the power increased to 237 brake, so a 16 brake increase really if you think about it that way, that's with Kpro and other mods of course. They're fantastic systems for flow, there a nicer sounding systems out there but the Fujitsubo is quiet for pootling about and it comes to life when caning it. Hope this helps.
