Hi,

Im Alex, proud new owner of a DC5. Picked it up from Torque GT start of October and been on this forum a while now so thought it was about time i said hello and introduced myself. Theres some really good info on here, and its always good to speak to like minded people who also plough all there earnings into there car. :xgrin:

Always been a bit of a Honda nut, previously had an EP3 for 4 years, before some careless driver decided to plough into the back of me while i was stopped in traffic! Im not so mad now... it prompted me to get the DC5 which i dont think i would of got had that not happened. Everything happens for a reason right?

Spent the day before detailing it ironically...

And after... :xangry:

And the DC5, fresh import through Torque GT, here was the spec:

· C Pack
· Engine Start Button
· Black Mirrors
· Clear Side Repeaters
· Double Din Stereo with IPod Connection (older style iPod)
· Mugen Lip on Rear Spoiler
· Kakimoto Catback Exhaust
· Mugen Showa Suspension
· Braided Brake Lines
· Aftermarket Pads (front discs do not look that old)
· Vacuum Gauge on Dash

After what seemed like forever (but was fairly quick in reality) i picked it up from Torque. Darren and everyone down there were great through the whole process and delivered me such a clean example... Some pics after the first proper clean up. :xgrin:

Im forever taking pics but useless at getting round to do any sort of write up, i'l try and keep more on top of it and update this now and then with progress. :)

The car feels so solid, and much more of a difference than i ever imagined coming from an EP3. Bags more fun and smiles! The plan is to take a trip to Eurospec soon, get them to give it a once over and make sure everything as good as can be before i start spending money on extra goodies for the Teg. Also plan to do a power run there, not for pub talk bhp figures, but to find out exactly what i have under the Bonnet. Coming from an EP3 i expected a power increase, but it feels much faster than the standard 220BHP to me... Update soon!

Look forward to meeting some of you at some shows next year. :xhappy:

Where in Wiltshire? I used to live in Wilton, I had a black DC5 for most of the time I was there.

Thanks!

Was a bit nerve-wracking buying a car blind from the other side of the world. But Torque did a great job...

Im in a village just outside of Chippenham. You're just down the road in swindon... Seen a few Tegs about but not sure whether its anyone on here. Pics? I'l keep an eye out, quite often visiting friends in swindon...

Its a Kakimoto Regu 06&R. Looks massive but actually isn't stupidly loud at all, no droning on the motorway etc, pretty quiet. That is until you give it some beans, then it screams! xlistenmusic Really impressed with it! Means i can leave it to warm up in the morning from a cold start without annoying the neighbours too much!

Ahh awesome, i'l never forget the ridiculous levels of excitement and anticipation i had for mine to arrive... Bet you can't wait, make sure you post some pictures up once you have her. xthumbup

Love heading down to combe... literally is barely a 10 minute drive from me.

My Teg is a daily so i was originally a bit apprehensive about taking it on track, but i recently did a track day there with my mate in his Arial atom and it changed my views on Track days altogether. Its clear you can take it as easy or go as hard as you like so as long as i leave some talent in the bag at all times i think it would be rude not to get it on track...

I had similar thoughts about a track day with my EP3, and regret never getting that on track so im not going to make the same mistake with the DC5. And besides, the DC5 literally begs to be taken on track... can't believe how much better they are to drive.

You done a few track days at combe Chris?

It looks really nice with the polished finish on the tip. Mine has a Mugen Twin Loop, quiet when I creep away but full chat when VTEC kicks in. It was rather fun on a hill during the test drive :)

Pictures will be coming when I have her home; here is one on the day I test drove her and putting the deposit down:

Track days are safer than driving fast on the road IMO mate. I've done Combe once in my S2000 and had a blast, the only corner that needs serious caution is Quarry but apart from that it's a lovely fast and flowing circuit. I rate it higher than Donington but that's my personal preference.

I hope to go there in the Spring once the weather starts heating up.

Yeah since the track day i went on, I've since decided this myself. On the roads i feel like im part of Forza horizon or something with every tom, dick & harry driving like an idiot behind me to try and encourage a race...

Where as on the track, its a rare few who drive like idiots, the rest are all really respectful of everyone else and just there to make the most of there cars and have fun. Great atmosphere.

Not sure whether il get mine up together where i want it in time for a spring track day, but hopefully not long after... If it is il join or if not il probs pop down anyway. Be good to have a fellow Teg owner on the track day. :D

Get yourself signed up on http://www.hondas-on-track.com/

It's a bit dead at the moment which I'm hoping will change soon as I'm in talks with the owner. But there's a few core members with DC5s who join in with the LOT days regularly.
Awesome, cheers fella.

Heard a lot about Hondas on track but never signed up. Il get on it!

Thanks, I did not give much thought into whether I preferred a facelift one or not. I was just looking for a clean example and wanted to the first UK owner.

Best go buy my insurance for her now. ^_^

First UK owner is always a bonus...

Sure you have already, but make sure you do a few comparison quotes beforehand to go armed with when you call your insurance for a quote. My insurance companies quote when i called them direct was DOUBLE the best price i found, with the same company online... After an hour or two discussing how ridiculous this was, they honoured the much lower price.

Welcome Alex

Your car looks great (defo choose the right colour combo!) sorry to see your ep3 that way, looked like a stunning ctr!

I also imported through Torque GT 18 monthes ago and still use them for work/servicing as I only live 15 mins from them. I'm pretty sure I saw your car when I was up there last, I remember the little mugen lip on the spoiler and the black mirrors (a mod which I'm thinking of doing myself).

I'm currently based just outside Chippenham at MOD Lyneham Mon-Fri so we'll definitely have to arrange a meet here at somepoint

Enjoy the forum mate, it's got some fantastic guides and some people with lots of knowledge and advice 😃

Don't listen to comparison sites cos our imported cars are usually not on the list of vehicles. On DVLA mine comes up as a DC5 R but on comparison sites it comes up as a 2.0 accord (using reg plate)

You need of make double sure your insurer knows exactly what car they're covering and that it's an imported 2.0 Integra Type R DC5. Best way to do that is to contact a specialist such as Greenlight or Brentacre Etc.🖒
