Not sure I can be qualified to be a newbie yet, but just won a 2001 CW DC5 in very low mileage via Torque GT.
Have started reading the forum and learning bit by bit.

I have done lot of reading and pricing research since Oct, and I reckon my 2001 Grade 4C in such low mileage would be worth up to £14k.

In the end, I was told the final price is over £14.5k and I only need to pay up to £14.5k that is the maximum I said I can push up to. The auction price end up was around 1.31milion yen.

I have learnt a big lesson that the patience is the key, because I have seen 5A and 4.5B PFL showing up in 2 week time.

I have a feeling that OTR price is very vague term to some kind of buyers. But it implies the mark-up the seller can make are always different toward different cars/customers due to the changing exchange rate. I personally prefer that the exchange rate risk factor should be put on the end buyer's shoulder. It would be more fair to each customer. May be I am wrong?

Mine too went over budget but they honoured my maximum, I'm really glad I went for it months ago as the prices have rocketed up! I'm sure you'll be very happy with it, that's probably the lowest mileage on the forum ;)

You'll soon forget about the cost of it all when you get behind the wheel ;)

I went about £2k+ over budget ha ha. Auction fever struck as soon as I saw the pictures.

Yours does seem to have mega low miles though, 20k miles ish?

Welcome along friend :)

I wouldn't worry how much you paid, it's an import you at least you know the rust factor will be down to a minimum :).

I agree on the price going up, i'm sure they have increased by up to 1k at least on good examples to import since i was looking last summer.

Patch_teg,

I did not realise until you tell me the rear light look different. Oh no.
Need to find out whether it is an issue or not.

Will be fine, Andy above at BHP Imports had one a few months back. I think they actually look pretty nice :)

Spoke to Mike in Torque GT when Darren is away. I said I am not pleased the rear light are not standard factory one, because I have mentioned that I look for the stock DC5.
In my mind, if the auction sheet had any obvious item are not factory, it would affect my decision to place the bid.

Mike is very kind, and said he would offer me a pair of factory rear light, used but in good condition.
That makes me feeling better.

I understood that not everyone can spot out or know which part is non standard, but I really expect the import specialist can simply point out the obvious one.

May be I have not done my homework good enough to spot this thing out?

Welcome to the forum

I dont read auction sheets well...But think it says 43581 km ? (27079 miles)
The wear to the drivers bolster seems a lot for such low mileage, id get the bolster changed asap, before the fabric gets damaged.

Looks to have some gadget, maybe vtec controller on the center console. Always nice picking it up and finding what goddies are on it

Yes, Correct.

The seat small wear is mentioned in auction sheet.
Basically, the carpet is dirty and stain. Other things like wheel hub scratch are expected.

My Japanese friends have helped to translate all of the, and match pretty much to what importer told.
I expect that lot of works are required to restore it back to high standard for picky owner.

One interesting thing I found is that after the bid was placed, that weekend I found out this car has been listed in few months ago, marked as sold. Then get re-listed using another auction sheet.
As newbie, I don't know much about auction. I can accept whatever the importer's explanation. I never know what has happen. But one thing I sure is that the auction sheet for the same car in different time are slightly different. Importer does not seem knowing this car is the relisted one before my bid.

Congratulations on the purchase!

That's really low milage, becoming very rare to find them this low nowadays on a prefacelift.

Gadget on the center console could just be the reciever used for the tolls?

You also don't often see them make it this far with the flare still in the holding, usually that goes 'missing' as soon as it hits the auctions, I wonder if that'll remain with the car during import or if it'll have to be removed...

Pretty sure mine had the flare still present at auction. Think it might get removed prior to shipping, fire risk I guess. Doesn't e plain why my driver-side mat went missing though lol.

You can buy fakes ones on eBay. Have been tempted to grab one just because I can see the empty flare holder ha ha.
