Just thought I would brake the ice and say hello! Currently put a deposit on a 06 championship white DC5 and subject to the car being ok I should have it within 2-3 weeks time after its had the tests etc done.

I'm coming from an Astra VXR which was stage 3 (300bhp 350 lb/ft) which was wel setup, bilstein suspension, ap brakes, rarb, good tyres etc. My question now is will it be much of a step down if it is a step down to the DC5? Never driven one just its one of my all time favourite cars and I have to own one and now I've got the chance I've jumped at it.

It'll probably handle better than the VXR but obviously wont be as powerful, and you'll have to ring the neck off it which you're probably not used to from a turbo car

welcome mate from the north east my self, the DC5 is a totally different car to the VXR as said it won't be as powerful but you certainly won't be disappointed.

If you want to turbo you better have very deep pockets, it's pretty much all custom made. There isn't a lot you can do for 'bolt-ons' on a DC5 other than the usual exhaust/intake things but if you want any serious power most people supercharge as that's a much more researched route DC5's have been through.

Well I will 100% be going down either the supercharge or turbo route just is there a lot of money difference between the 2?

I don't know exactly but the SC route is definitely cheaper, although I don't know how much. I'm sure if you created another topic with words like supercharge and turbo in the title you'll get all the top lads replying.

Welcome I'm from North East also

Yes SC and Turbo routes are both cheaper options with SC being cheapest iirc.

Ultimately it depends on you power goals. NA you can see 250bhp/170lbft NA with bolt one and a decent map.

Some serious money will see you with cams built head etc etc pushing serious NA power like mine but if you want power now and cheap SC is probably the quicker route.

Enjoy the forum. Wealth of knowledge around.

Hi Liam and welcome :). Regarding your question about a Teg possibly being a step down I have some context for you. I have previously owned (amongst others) an Integra DC5, a 400bhp Subaru Impreza P1, a 340bhp Mazda RX-7 and a RenaultSport Megane 250.

I am looking to buy another DC5. :xvtec:
