Hi guys,

So my 2004 DC5 is on its way from Japan as we speak...I‘m buzzing!
Only ever had company cars for 17 years, so looking forward to having my own pride and joy.

First question:
It‘s coming with a twin loop Mugen exhaust. Are these stupidly loud? I‘ve watched all the YouTube clips but you don‘t get a sense of how loud it is.

Second question:
Am I correct in thinking the DC5s don‘t come with standard security measures? If I am wrong please correct me .

Cheers in advance guys.

1) Renowned for being one of the quietest systems for these cars
2) I don't believe they come fitted with any security.

The mugen twin loop is a pretty quietish exhaust.. does have a sound to it but not a wake the neighbours loud sound

Alarm wise im unsure as mine came with an aftermarket

If it's a 2001-early 2004 pre facelift it will need to have an alarm fitted. If it's a late 2004-2006 facelift it will have a factory Honda alarm.

Hi.

Congratulations. You'll buzz even more when you finally get your hands on it. I have a 2004 which arrived in Feb 2010. It still gets admiring looks and gives me a smile on the face.

If you can get the shipping details you will be able to track it using the Marine tracking service. I found it interesting to see that little car getting nearer to it's destination each day.

Regards. Granty.

Cheers for the response guys.

Another question...see what your opinions are:

It‘ll be parked mostly on my moms drive during the week when I‘m not using it. I‘ll do the usual things like buying a decent steering lock, and I‘ll put up a camera overlooking the driveway.

But do I need to worry about it any more than normal?

My guess is these days the proper car gangs are more after top end Audi‘s, BM‘s etc, ......rather than a 15 year old Honda.

I‘m toying with the idea of covering it up. But I‘m concerned that will make people more curious....not to mention it‘ll be a ball ache every time I want to use it.

Thoughts?

I'm sure it'll be fine on the drive. They aren't worth that much or particularly fast these days to be a draw to joy riders. They are also a bit too noticeable to be ideal for using on a burglary, that's why the fast Audi, BMW and VWs are good. They look boring and blend in but are rapid when needed

I have the mugen twin loop and find it so quiet, just a tiny bit louder than OEM but really not much in it

Also, with regards to covering it up, just read up on that, as you need to make sure the car is completely dry before hand or it can damage you paint work, yet more hassle for when putting it on!

Thank for the info bud.

Yeah I hadn‘t thought of that...looks like it‘ll have to stay out in the open.
Thanks for letting me know

Mine is kept on the drive and I've had no issues so far (hopefully won't have in future either!). I'm super paranoid, but at the end of the day if someone wants your car they'll have it. You can obviously buy deterrents such as clamps, locks and cameras for piece of mind. As mentioned, there's plenty of other faster, more valuable vehicles that are becoming more common too. Being fairly rare, it's easily mistaken for a modified civic to the non enthusiast, which isn't that attractive in comparison to the 10 Golf R's littered around the estate ;)

You've reminded me about a car under a cover near me too. Its either a late Impreza Saloon or an FD2 Civic. Will have to go check it out :xgrin:

Hi guys,

Couple more questions...
Picking up my DC5 next week (just in time for long weekend ;) )

What fuel does everyone else use? Shell Vpower, BP ultimate, Tesco Momentum99? Are they all very much the same.

Has anyone got a disklock steering lock? If so what size fits the standard steering wheel?

Cheers guys, you‘ve all been really helpful, glad I joined.

I‘ll post some proper pics when I‘ve got it, but here is one sent to me, taken in Japan

Any of the premium 'super unleaded' fuels will be fine, as long as the octane number is high enough you'll be fine. I use mostly Vpower for thr points and it's local but esso, BP and tesco have been fine if I've filled up while out and about.

Bet you can't wait to get it, hope it all goes smoothly and you enjoy it :)

As what Ste has said above, try and stick Shell V power or Momentum 99 as they're mapped to 100 RON from the factory in Japan. In saying that, and I'm going to court controversy here. All my Hondas and this is the fifth Honda I've had have all gone better off Asda fuel, 97 Ron. The cars seem to have more pull and the engine seems to rev better than with some of the more expensive stuff. I find Tesco 99 the car runs particularly lumpy. Obviously you shouldn't stick 95 or 97 fuel in regularly but my car goes well off it. If you can, try and buy some Fortes fuel cleaner as it's excellent. Just chuck it in with a full tank.
