rear brake problem

I was driving my car and suddenly heard a loud prang from the rear wheel.
the offside rear brake then made a schreeching noise and when I pressed the pedal there would be a vibration from the back.

luckily I was just pulling up to my house. I took the wheel off and had a quick look and there's nothing obvious to see.
has anyone experienced this or have any idea what it could be?

Right so i took the caliper off this morning and the inside pad was corroded so much that it was falling apart.

Now i need help sourcing some pads and i may aswell replace the discs at the same time.
Rang up Honda parts but theres nobody in until tuesday and even then it would take 2-3 days if they need to order the parts.

Does anybody know where i can pick up some pads locally?
Will Halfords or similar sell them?
Or will i need to pick them up from Honda or a specialist company?

Im pretty sure that the rear pads are the same as ctr although rear discs are different.

yep CTR are same as DC5 - so any motor factors or eurocar parts should stock them.

I managed to get some pads locally. I tried to push the piston back and it wouldnt budge.
Ended up sanding the pad down to fit.

Then found out today the pistons are threaded so wouldnt push straight back in, doh!

So its all good for now but need to pick up some decent discs and pads for the back.

Any recommendations? OEM?

yes you need to push the piston and turn at the same time, i have a special tool but you can easily do it with a pair of long nose pliers.

Thanks for the advice mate, do you just grab round the caliper piston and tighten like you would a bolt?
i may buy the kit if im going to be doing them again in the future.

Thanks!
The kits seem to vary alot in price, would this be fine for the job?

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_214227_langId_-1_categoryId_165469

or if anyone knows where to find a better one let me know :)

I have one of these piston whindback tools this exact one and they are very useful and make changing the rear pads a breeze. Worth there weight.

thats the one i have, there are many available and some cheaper, its not a tool you will need very often so i wouldnt buy a snap-on one if you get my drift.

Brilliant thanks for the help everyone, just wanted to make sure they wernt duff, as you tend to get what you pay for with tools.

Ill pick one up and get on the search for some decent pads and discs.

Can you order integra discs from Honda? Has anyone got the correct part number, and the pads are the same as the ctr? That should be easy buy from Honda.

hi there, Just done my pads and disks. Got mine from Dave Johnson at Steels Honda. Got a nice discount and they arrived the next day. :) I wound the rear piston back by grinding an old chisel untill it was blunt and then just used it like a big flat blade screwdriver. ;)
