Reverse lights don't work

Hi guys,

I had the car in for some work recently. The engine was removed with gearbox for this.

Upon picking the car up I noticed the reverse lights weren't working.

The garage checked:

bulbs (fine)
loom in boot (fine)
reverse light sensor on gearbox (replaced with another)

They then put a current in to the sensor and the lights still didn't work.

*** UPDATE (FIXED) - For those who come across this with the same problem.... The reverse lights wires, came disconnected from the big loom plug that goes into the bulkhead ***

Pull the plug off the reverse switch on the gearbox then take a paper clip and bridge the plug with the ignition on, then see if your reverse lights are working.

I know the garage said they have checked this but by your description they have tried to send a voltage down the plug which they shouldn't have done, by bridging it you are closing the circuit.
