would just like some advice from the most experianced owners
Went in to my local honda dealer for a price for a 3 year service (just got it moted a few months ago with 14,000 mile on the clock.)
the lass at the desk quoted me and said it would be £273
and when i asked what was involved she said they would change the oil and replace the airfilter, i said i would supply my own oil and not to bother changing the filter as i am going for an induction set up as soon as the funds allow. she then said it would be £170 approx WHAT FOR ????
if all they where doing was changing the oil and filter ???
i dont mind paying the money if i know that there is actual work being done.
anyone know what else should be done that perhaps she didnt have a clue about ??
any recomendations on a superior oil??
cheers Paul

it cost me £100 for an oil change/filter change at 20k at JAKAN, unfortuantly they have ceased trading from the end of this month

thats what you get from a main dealer sadly hence me never going main stream service again. :!: other agrages will quite happily stamp the book but it just wont have the words 'Honda' on it!

The 3 year is a minor service I paid 90.84 for it at Phoenix Honda in Stirling supplied my own oil and didn't need a filter.

Going to get the MOT done with my next service which will be the 4 year one. I've been racking up far too many miles  but they have been fun. :D

so does this sound like they where only going to change the oil and air filter for £273 ??
surley they must adjust or check more than this ???
anyone have the check list they do for the 3rd year service ?
cheers

that sounds to me like the 'major' service, i got mine done and it should have been £273, but they didnt change the spark plugs so that knocked it down to just over £200.

they supplied oil and filter, air filter etc as i couldnt be chewed with sorting my own out, they also do all the usual 'checks' but they take the head off and reset/re-align tappets or valves or something....

tbh when you compare the prices to some other main dealers i find honda to be very competitive

reading the report that I got with my 3 year service.

they check that everything is still attached to the car, like they do with all services

changed the brake fluid and oil, filter.

Parts I was charged for were Brake Fluid, service kit, Oil filter and washer plug for the filter which came to 13.61 + Vat and the rest was labour.

Got told that my pads were worn and my discs starting to corode and that was it.

thats it

Noticed a Honda specialist recommended on type-r-scotland.com which I was thinking of using when I need servicing. In East Kilbride I think and set up by ex Hyndland Honda mechanics.
