Hey guys,

Looking to give the car a bit more "beef" As i'm not leaving certain cars standing quick enough..... that or i've got used to it. I've got a budget of around £1000 but still have no idea what to do next. I've got an AEM long ram (and yes i know Grupe M is better, but can't justify that much money for an induction kit) DC manifold which decat's it, Izegan (can't spell) exhaust and a mapped Kpro, i'm running around 230Bhp. Some people say RBC with bigger throttle body but i'm not sure? Is there any other ideas or is my budget not quite there?

Anyhelp would be great and appreciated

Thanks

RBC with standard TB seems to have good results on here, and you could always invest the rest on some handling mods?

Whats the recomended fast road setup? I've got a local "specialist" who suggest Tien (may have miss spelt) coil over kit with electronic damper adjustment, but i felt the feel on this forum about that was mainly negative.
RBC how much am i looking? would a bigger throttle body be worth it? i think i've read thats theres not much point doing one without the other. Could be wrong. Would need about £100 to adjust the map as well?

Just RBC - £250
Remap - £200

£550 towards your eibach coilovers and FRSU

Hello mate, FRS and brakes would be the way to go :)

I can't really comment about driving on Tein coilovers but getting the EDFC to adjust them from your cabin seems a bit excessive when your budget is £1k

For a bit above 1k-ish i'd recommend the Eibachs with FRS (including rear camber arms). Not sure 1k would cover the Teins + FRS, especially if you get the EDFC.

Yeah i agree, Tien is going to be a little excessive i feel.
So the RBC, how much do you think it will be plus a bigger throttle body? Much gains?

If your patient you should be able to get TB and RBC for 450 - 500 in the for sale section then fitting couple hours of labour then 200 for mapping so 850 ish. Youll get some decent extra torque accross the rev range peak figures around 240-250bhp . If striaght line speed is that big a concern then your in the wrong car

If you save hard why not go for a supercharger? 300+ bhp you dust most cars.just a thought..

+1 on charger kit , im sure there will be some 2nd hand kits out there for reasonable prices ,then you will be seeing 300+ bhp easy :D

+2 actually, charger seems the best option for speed.

I wouldnt bother with the bigger TB, not worth it, just get the RBC on its own

Yeah of course a super charger would be the best way to go. Off the top figure i thought was around 4 grand. Could be wrong though. As for the RBC on its own. Would like to try that. Would i be able to add a bigger throttle body later on?

thanks for all your guys help

Theres no reason why you cant add a bigger TB to an RBC at a later date, the only issue you might have is that you'll need the fuelling checked and adjusted if required after fitting, not a major hassle in the grand scheme of things.

My advice would be to go for an RBC and the map tweak then what evers left, put towards some Eibach springs and a fast road set up :xcheers:

If you go for a jackson you will see 300 if you are lucky, they struggle with airflow so that is their limit.
if you go rotrex and look for more than 300 you will need engine internals as the std ones will give up soon after.

rbc + tb with remap, then fast road with adjusters (£400 ish fitted) will give you decent bit of both, dont forget fast road setup will not help you pull away any quicker unless you are on track etc.

personally i would go for toda cams or save a little more and go stroker as the extra cc will really help with low down torque , these engines were never designed with forced induction in mind so can be a little delicate once done, remember a k20a from a civic is a little different to start with.

That sounds like a good plan. Is there a fast road set up that involves shocks aswell as springs and will not turn the ride into an unbearable hard experience? Also how much are RBC's new?

sorting out the cams will cost around 1500 + cost of remap

supercharge - 3.5-4k inc remap (was quoted 4.5-5k as i dont have a k-pro)

just go for brakes and suspension, maybe a baffled sump and sticky tyres or modify my suggestion to suit your requirements.

Hate to sound stupid and unknowlegeable. But whats the "best" FRS to get? and what exactly does it involve? Thanks for everyones advice..... money, must have more money lol!

The FRS will vary from place to place, it's just the way they set up your camber, toe etc. Which garages are close to youo, most people use TGM, TDI North, Unit 8 and some others.

im not near to any of those unfortunately. I'm down in a place called Eastbourne, basically East of Brighton. Sure i would need a different suspension parts to adjust the camber etc. I mentioned a Tien suspension kit earlier, that comes with adjustable top mounts? is that the sort thing i will need?

thanks for your reply
