Just a quick bit of help if I may please ladies and gents. Does anyone know of any companies who will insure the car for short periods? The Teg will only be used when I am home , which is only every 6 weeks or so. All the other times it will be safely locked away in the garage at my parents' house with their cars. Plus I am off to Afghanistan (again!) in September for 6 months so the car won't be moving much. Had a quote off Adrian Flux for around £700.00 which isn't too bad (thats just for a normal quote) but some of the other companies are hilarious - £1800.00? I wouldn't mind, but at 30, 5+ years no claims, no convictions, points etc is ridiculous. My RS Mk2 cost me £750.00! So I would prefer Insurance for short periods of time.

Any suggestions welcome.

No insurers I know of will do this for you. You either need a 12 month policy, a laid up policy or leave the car sorn and uninsured.

Or you could do a 10 month accelerator right? Although for £700 i'd take it for the year with the piece of mind that if anything happened whilst I was away the car would be covered! Obviously quoting how many miles you'll be doing (likely less than 5k)

You could try Keith Michaels for a quote I was paying around 400 ( I am a little older but also have a ban)

Cheers for the info guys, I have a while yet before the car is bought so I can shop about. Some companies are laughable with their quotes though! Would except it if I had a string of convictions, or I was 21, but a quote of £1800.00 made me split my sides!
