Speedo issues

Car has driven faultless for so long, however after filling up this morning i noticed the speedo fly up to 40mph to match the speed I was doing. Then approx 10 minutes later it did it again on the dual carriage way, and limited my revs to 4k. A minute or two and it went back to match the speed and was fine, VTEC still engages right up to redline.

Could this be the VSS?

It‘s probably not the vss but the cheap crappy converter that most importers put on there for the sva.

If the car isn‘t sure what speed it‘s doing it‘ll misbehave as your described.
