Had a busy day haha! Removed wiring for underseat sub and amp, re wired stereo to come on without turning ignition on, refitted dash trims, cleaned steering wheel(no longer shiney) polished headlights, polished wind deflectors and changed pollen filters! Achievement!! Ha!

Then tomorrow fitting gearbox mount insert !

Okay. I hate my DC5. I cannot undo the oil filter. I am so sick of this kind of thing happening. I just want an easy life. Now I will have to get it trailered to a garage to do it.
Happy days.

In other news, I did the one on my civic before hand, piece of cake. How the flipping hell has the DC5 filter got that tight?

Have you tried the belt trick or trying to degrease it to get a better grip?

Dont know what tools you tried if any but surely the cost of a more specialised tool is far cheaper than trailoring it?

Theres a special oil filter removal tool.
The other thing I've seen people do is tap a long screw driver through the side for more leverage. Worth a try if it's only getting trailered otherwise.

If you do use that trick just be sure not to mangle it so the point it's more difficult to get off. A nice tidy hole is fine but if it starts to tear, leave it be.

I was going to suggest this. Prepare for a messy job as well!

Today I have replaced the engine and gearbox oil, oil filter (mine was tight to, made it have it with a filter wrench belt thing).

Decided to underseal as much of the floor as I could to give her a bit of protection for the future. Cleaned it off and gave it a good coat of proper underseal until I run out - just about covered all the main parts.

Dropped the bumper off to replace the front H badge and noticed a length of copper pipe cable tied across it? Hardly JDM I think... Couldn't think of a good reason for it so that has gone now :)

Got it off eventually, my amazing girlfriend brought a tool back from 'dunelm' as a surprise, like a big wrench to grip it with. I had already tried spinach, chiselling, stabbing screw driver. Didn't think about special tools! Never ever needed one before! Next struggle is to get the gearbox filler n drain plugs loose! That can wait for another day now. Cheers for the tips guys.

When I was doing the gear oil I just used my 1/2" drive breaker bar with no socket on it.
