Has a indepth feature on the new tesco 99 ron fuel VS optimax, BP ultimate and regular unleaded.. definately worth a read.

They test each fuel on a golf GTi and a new M5 and then do power runs for each. Ultimate seems to be the best but tesco matches it for top end grunt i think, havent read it totally yet..

Plus its the car of the year issue too which is always good..

On 5th Gear, Ultimate didnt do very well and Optimax came out on top.

Unfortunately they never tested Tesco 99

such a good article, someone should have done it a long time ago.

the impression i get is the BP Ultimate gave some good power all the way but trailed off top end, which lets face it in a Golf GTi isn't really that "top end", think i will be sticking with Optimax / Tescos - although I def get the feeling the car prefers optimax
