Anyone know of a company around warrington that does undersealing? I've heard of someone that does work for grinspeed and sounds like they do a proper job for a very reasonable price, full clean , dry in heated 'oven', bumpers and wings and arch liners off.
I've failed in a few attempts to get there contact details and google isnt coming up with anything, so if anybody knows who this might be that would be great! Or any other recommendations! Grinspeed say they did someones fd2 recently.. Don't know if that helps.

Cheers!

I was looking into this a couple of months ago.

I'm from East Lancashire and was looking around the north west.

There is rustmaster in Knutsford and a few in Lancaster.

I spoke to stevie as well but he couldn't remember the company the guy used. I don't think he does it.

After reading reviews, I wasn't keen on the oily finish most places leave and ended up doing it myself on axel stands over a couple of weeks.

I did the following:

Wire brush
2 x coats of por15
2 x coats of bilt hamper UB wax

Would like to do this my self. Any tips, pointers etc?
Thanks in advance.

There's not much to it really.

Be patient, have a few different size wire brushes and wear a mask and gloves.

My hands got covered in por15, took more than a week to get it off.

The bilt hamper UB is really good stuff. I used two bottles.

Thanks,

Did you jet wash before hand or just crack on. Also what was the score with the various coats drying?

I will be fully kitted out too as o hear it's nasty stuff.

I didn't jet wash.

My cars garaged and it's not a daily.

Didn't drive it for a week and then just used the wire brushes.

There's 3 steps for the por15, just follow the instructions, can't remember the exact intervals. When doing the 2nd coat of the por15 paint, make sure the 1st coat is still sticky.

I gave it a couple of days, then used the UB wax. Gave it 24hrs between the UB layers and then a couple of more days before I took it out the garage.

Por15 is good stuff but it chips. The UB adds a rubber like layer. Plus you can spray it into cavities.

Cheers for the reply mebz. I'll look into rustmasters, and maybe have one more shot at getting the number from grinspeed!
If my car wasnt a daily i'd just do it as i know i'd do a proper job the way i want it doing, but its not realistic as my other half uses it to get to work during the week (i just about trust her :| ha) and i use it on an evening/weekend, add to that unpredictable welsh weather plus my ocd about rust and its simply not worth attempting! I'd rather work a saturday or two and trust someone with a good rep, garage and a ramp to carry out the work, but i also want to be confident i can drive in winter without wincing everytime i see the mercury heading for 0! Its had a basic blowover from the importer, but that aint doing much in the long run.

I've bought a dinitrol set, heard good things about it so going to give it a try. Few layers of Por 15 with a layer of wax over it sounds like a fair old coat of armour! Peace of mind there : )

I did mine myself with hammerite underbody seal with added waxoyl. It almost fully dries but still has slight movement.
No real prep needed, just wire brushed any loose flaking rust, used a dry flannel to rub off any dirt and went ahead splodging the stuff on.
By dabbing rather than brushing it gave almost an oem type finish. It did get in my hair though which was a pain to wash, especially when the car was only on axle stands a foot above me. Well worth it though so far and that's been on for a few years at least. I just need to see about how to top up the waxoyl...

MB Tech in Winwick Quay did the underseal/waxoyl on my DC5 about a week or two ago.
They are Mercedes specialist but they work on a lot of Japanese cars. Maybe give them a ring.

I used a company called chassis clean near Manchester airport way. I droped it off as I was going on holiday and picked it up on my way home a week later. it was on a farm in rural location, he specialises in classic cars and really does a great job. just search the internet forums about him. I had mine done about 8 years ago and still looks new now, never had any rust problems. Their internet site seems to be down unless he has gone out of business. I think it was about £400. so glad I had it done. now the car is coming up to 11 years old.

Might be worth giving Area Motorsport a call?

Pretty sure they'll do it, and only about 40 minutes from you.
