Just curious as to what people think they would own if they did not have a DC5?

PS Done a search and could not find a post the same ;-)

There was a post a while ago about this, was quite interesting really.

Almost noone would have bought a hot hatch which i found quite surprising , alot of people when buying the DC5 seemed to also be eyeing stuff i'd probably class 'the next league' in terms of running costs and out right BHP.

When i was buying my Teg the closest thing for me was probably the Celica GT, pretty similar to the Teg really but the DC5 just does every bit better so that justified the price over the Celica.

Now i am eyeing up Scooby STI's we're just unsure which car to trade in for one, my Teg or her MK3 MX-5...

I really wanted an Evo, there's even one for sale on here and its only about 45mins away and there's an Evo tuning/servicing specialist less than 10 mins away! but i just couldn't justify (or just plain afford!) the running costs of one :xcry:

Before my DC5 I was looking at:

Type 72 Elise (JPS):

Evo 9

Safe to say I think I made the right choice of performance, manly looks and running costs, 8)
Bridging the gap between the two...

Currently thinking about an FD2, love the Mugen but not the price:

I had a EK4 VTi, i sold that to get an EK9 but ended up with a DC2 UKDM Type r turbo..
Naturally after that i wanted a DC5 when i sold it, i was 22 at the time and couldn't get insured on anything over group 15 so i settled for a few cheap cars in between.. i will be 24 at my next renewal and still can't get insured on a DC5 so i've been pootling about in my 06 ep3 premier which is 'almost' as good as DC5 although i would rather have a CW or Black DC5 with Red interior then my premier Ep3 because i love the looks of the DC5.. and my postman has a 2005 facelift one which looks gorgeous!

There is no alternative. :D

Probably a CTR......which i had before. Next car is likely to be something like a Golf R32, fancy the 4WD, and the comfort and all the toys when im a bit older, lol.

Im still tryign to sell the DC5 to get my second TT Supra :D
Never really seen the attraction of a Supra, they look dated.. Inside is cramped. Costly to modify, every other one you see is modded in near enough the exact same way.

400 bhp, BPU'd.
Exterior: Wheelmania Jades or Kahn Alloys .. Do luck front bumper - Veilside side skirts/spats - Trial Rear - TRD rear wing.

If i had the cash and could get insured, i would love a R33 GTR. I think they look beautiful as they are (as do supra's without bodykits)

Have you tried Adrian Flux? They insured me when I was 21 on the DC5

couple of years ago insurance was ok on any car!
not any more, plus birmingham has bad insurance rating..
wouldnt pay more then 1000 fully comp on insurance, my insurance this term started at £700 fc on my mb6 vtis.. changed a few cars in between but didnt go up by much even to a ctr only cost me £40 extra a month but renewal quotes are around 1600, rather have a 2.5 bmw which would cost about 800

Dont you find this with the DC5 too though?
Gotta agree with Duane on that one!!

Most DC5's as with civics EG/EK/EP, crx's and DC2 integras look best in standard guise lowered with a "nice" set of wheels. Any bodykits on them look poop so most look the same/similar.

They might looked dated, but thats not really the point of the them. 500bhp on standard internals is more likely the reason.

You been in one? i was in one just recently and i hated it... horrible noise in the cabin and car felt really lurchy and heavy in the bends... i wasnt driving though.

Id have a supra in a flash, but it'd have to be a single turbo....
