i just checked my service receipt and honda put in Esso Ultron in - no idea what its rated at tho :s

Have always used Castrol GTX Magnatec 10W-40

Saw the recommended 5-30w for Civic Type R 2001- in Halfords few months back. Asked guy who said I needed to get the 10W-40 out of my car pretty much there and then. Told him I had managed nearly 2 years with it so no rush. Spoke to couple of Honda dealers who said the oil i'm using is fine.

Engine hasn't blown up yet!

I just bought 12litres (6x2litres) of Motul 300V 5W-40 from Opie Oils.... £79.95! Thats enough for 2 oil changes and topping-up. I believe that Mugen reccomend 5W-40.

Spoon Sports also recommends Motul 300v 5w-40.
Funny enough although Mugen uses Motul 300v 5w-40 on their race cars I have no idea why they bought out their oil brand. Perhaps it could be Motul oil rebranded :|

so basically what we are saying is not to use mobil 1??

mines in for a service tomorrow at dealership, not sure what they use though, i'll have to check, car has 23k miles on clock, so what would be the better oil to go for?

At my last (early) service,Honda put in Helix Ultra.

On Wednesday,I'm having Redline 5W30 Fully Synthetic put in.

See how I get on with that.

im sure honda bloke said he'd put in mobil super s oil at its service the other day?

cant find it in my local halfords, is there such an oil or have i heard him wrong?

is this oil any good, or should i change it asap??
