Let's say, for argument's sake, someone had a DC5 with a blown engine, what kind of hit would they take to the value if they wanted to sell as-is?

Let's assume the car was

a 52 plate
Silver
41,000 miles
some minor external blemishes
had a very nice touchscreen dvd stereo/ Ipod/ reversing camera etc

Probably around the 6k mark? That is a complete educated guess though.

Assume the bottom end needs replacing.

No one will want to touch a car that has a replacement engine or has had an extensive repair, especially on the bottom end.
