What's this broken bit?

Been looking over my recent DC5 purchase and noticed a broken pipe which looks like someone has then blanked off.

What is this for exactly?

It‘s the air assist valve, easily blanked off and most find the cars runs better without it

I‘m sure I made a guide how to do it on here

Since mine is already broken I might as well just order the bits and blank it off.
