Whine at 2000rpms

Has anybody had any issues with the bearings in there alternator?

I've got a whine coming from it at 2000revs and it only happens now and again... I'm just wondering if anybody has had this before as I'm unsure if it is the bearings or electrical interference.

I think it could be the engine preparing for the JRSC? whining already!

On a serious note, what sort of whine? Belt sound or something else?

Its quite a loud whine almost a Squeel at times... its definatley coming from the Alternator as i used my stephoscope to identify where it was as i thought it was the PAS pump at first.. just didnt know if this was a problem other members have come across.

Theres a electrical specialist down the road from where i live who rebuilds starter motors, alternators etc... i might take it off and get them to bench test it to see if its a electrical fault inside the Alternator or just the bearings.

I had a noise like this in my car for months it went away yesterday for no reason. Dont know what it was but it was really really really annoying. One problem fixed another one appears though. Car started hunting i replaced the idle controll valve and all and it didnt help :/

I get a squealing noise every now and then

Only happens when I first start the car up in a morning usually when its damp outside but always disappears after around 30 seconds.

Doesnt really bother me, will investigate further if it gets any worse :xlol:
