Hey folks, i'm looking to buy a winter car to avoid taking mine out on the bad/wet days as the thought of all that salt and grit is making me cringe, also worried about numpties who don't know how to drive in snow/ice having a bit of bumper car bashy with me, i'll still be running my Teg on dry days and ticking his engine over every day
I'm on a limited budget, found a great car for £500 but insuring it for a decent price is seemingly impossible
Details of the car in question is a 2000 reg 2.0 Honda Accord VTEC SE, no mods, engine immobiliser. I've actually managed to get a cheaper quote for this than most 1.2 cars of the same value so the appeal is the reliability of the engine (and it has FSH and no previous MOT advisories)
2 years ncb, 4 years driving, female, parked on street, I'm only after third party fire and theft with no added 'extras', will accrue less than 4000 miles a year
I appreciate there are so many factors in insuring cars, and the actual value is not the be all and end all, but the lowest quote i've managed is £510 with admiral, everywhere else is quoting £800-900 + (£1500 in one case!)
I've tried Brentacre, Greenlight (won't insure non-modded cars), admiral, direct line, sainsburys, aviva, LV, elephant, more than, and quinn direct
My question is, is there anywhere left to try that you've insured your winter runabout with and for cheaper than what i'm getting? or do I just need to bite the bullet and pay the £42 a month (ish)?
Thanks
