Heater blower

Hi folks

I'm having a spot of bother with my heater blower...

It stopped working altogether, and after a bit or research it seemed the transistor was the likely cause, as per this thread:
http://www.itr-dc5.club/forum/index.php?/topic/41539-blower-motor-not-working/?hl=blower

So I took it out and following a more generic thread I read somewhere else, out of interest and perhaps foolishly, I soldered a bit of wire across the thermal fuse to bypass it. When I plugged it back in the fan came on high as soon as I turned the ignition on, whatever the fan was set to, including off.

I couldn't really understand why but figured that at least it was pointing at the transistor unit and so reasoning it wasn't particularly high tech and not wanting to pay the Honda price I ordered one from eBay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172804908911

It arrived today, and exactly the same thing happens as when I plugged the old one in with the fuse bypassed - i.e. the fan just comes on high with the ignition and won't adjust or turn off.

The part is obviously cheap and maybe faulty, and at this stage I'd happily pay the full whack for a genuine one that works, but does anyone have any thoughts as to whether it might be something else?

Cheers, Matt.

Usually just the resistor.

£97 from Honda and normally held in stock. Same part as an EP3 (and CRV) if they say it's DC5 specific.

I 'should' have a spare in the garage
