Help Please
My Teg has developed a fault - when accelerating in Vtec, at 6k rpm the speed kinda gets stuck there and the needle doesn't go up either but you can hear the vtec getting louder but the car isn't actually accelerating?
If I keep the accelerator pressed it will eventually get out of that dead zone and then speed up after 2-3 seconds.
Any ideas? :(

Yeah that's the first thing I checked, was only serviced last month and oil level seems fine.

Ok, fuel filter, air filter blocked, split in intake hose, is it open cone? Could be heat soak in the temperatures we have had lately, ?

Yeah everything else seems fine. Recent Tegiwa intake, brand new filter etc seems fine.
Someone else also said could be VTEC solenoid but then wouldn't VTEC not work at all?
This works but just seems to stall at 6k rpm.

Checked all hoses, air filter and changed the VTEC solenoid today. Hasn't helped one bit as problem is there.
Quiet surprised if I'm first ever person to experience this in a DC5 :~

What are your spark plugs like? Also a bad fuel pump or blocked fuel filter could cause issues like this. Might be worth getting it plugged in see if there's any codes stored on the ECU.

Yeah it has been plugged in but it didn't show one single code. I'll try the fuel filter and pump next, see if that cures it.
Cheers

I'm having similar problem, vtec not working and once it's warm it seems to even pick up the revs at any sort of rev range, feels like it's been dragged back hard to explain and I've done all sorts to cure the problem so I've given up and booked it in at tdi to find the fault, haven't helped you in any shape or form but your not the only one and it really does suck

You know what's really strange.. I booked the car in at TDI north 3 weeks ago, for valve clearances and them to check the fitment of my Tegiwa intake as on my previous DC5, the VTEC crossover was very loud and sounded crystal clear but on my current car the intake sounds a little muffled and enclosed, no where near the same sound as on my old car.

My problem with the VTEC has started "After" TDI worked on the car. Now I'm not saying that TDI caused the fault, but maybe it's a possibility that it may be related to something they've done?
Been trying to call them everyday all week but nobody answers the phone then just goes to voicemail after 4 rings.

It's really bugging me and it's so annoying, totally takes the fun away from driving the car.
I think I'll just book it in with Honda and pay the damage to get it sorted.

I totally agree mate, I haven't enjoyed driving it what so ever lol enjoy looking at her but other then that it's been a pain, but that's probably your best bet let someone else take a look at it, I gave up but it's still annoying me

Don't take it to Honda, id try another specialist personally. Ultimately though if the problem has started since TDi had it id be going back to them. Don't give up.

Yeah but I can't prove that in theory can I.
It didn't start immediately after TDI, happened like a week later so not sure where I stand. Plus, they're gonna say why didn't I get in touch with them asap rather than waiting 3 weeks.
Problem is there's no Honda specialist around here. Can you recommend anyone that can look at the car and fix it without second guessing and giving me a list of things that may need doing?

He's fully booked for a few weeks and the dates he has available I can't get off work :(
I rang TDI north and told them what had happened and same thing - they're busy for a few weeks until mid July if I can get time off work I'll go back there.
But they're gonna charge me for this which I feel is unfair considering the fault did start after they had done valve clearances on the car.
On the phone they quoted me about £75 for valve clearances but they charged me £170 because they charge by the hour and had my car for almost 3 hours.
All I additionally asked was to check the timing chain and make sure the Tegiwa induction kit was fitted correctly but felt a little ripped off to be honest.

I feel for u mate, I'm taking mine to tdi tomorrow for them to check mine out, hope it's nothing serious though and doesn't dent my wallet too much! I'm guessing yours is still the same?
