The cats fine and as I've mentioned about 10 times already mechanically it's how it should be. And I didn't really mean ecu problem sorry should of explained abit better, I meant they need to put a kpro on it so they change things and for the engine to do it, and I'm guesing by doing that they can see what's causing the problem. So yeah it could be a sensor but they don't know what, no point guesing spending money on parts of it's not going to cure the problem. I'm in the motor trade my self and only because a sensor has gone down doesn't mean to say the eml will come one either so yeah it is abit confusing but hopefully will get to the botten of it

Because I've already taken the cat off my self and had a look at it, and swapped it for different one. As goes for exhaust I'm not sure I've given it a good wack lol loads of exhaust gases coming out the back end so I don't think it's that to be honest. Any more suggestions?

Had the same issue. Hesitant as hell, would go into VTEC and would make the noise but needle would drag on slowly.
Had no EML or anything.
Changed plugs, coil packs, service, alternator, battery etc.

ELD replacement sorted it.
Asked ap performance and he suggested it with out hesitation so wasn't clearly unheard of.

Hi jvzr

I read about this and I swapped it from the one on my ep3 but it didn't change anything still the same issue, do you think they are slightly different?

That's a disaster. We changed loads and that's what sorted us.

No dc5 and ep3 are the same. Dc5 can only be sold as a whole with a fusebox is the only difference. Same part number etc.
Sorry that's no help

The eml is the little relay fuse box what's held down by 2 nuts and a plug underneath isn't it? But yeah thanks anyway mate

If the EML was faulty it wouldn't come on with ignition surely?

Why not take it to another garage?

I don't see why you should have to install a KPro just so you can chase the fault?

It's basic mechanics; you need fuel, air and spark. If there's hesitation, one of these is lacking in some way or another.

I've sat and had a think about it, and spoke to a few people over the past few days.

At the end of the day it's down to 2 things, either fuel starvation or ignition timing.

The VTC Actuator directly controls ignition timing from many outputs however still works on oil pressure so the valve for that can be clogged.

Or it could be the knock sensor, which may not throw up an EML. which will retard the ignition timing anyway if it's faulty.

It is helpful to have a K-pro to monitor outputs and ignition timing.

Chasing a fault which throws up no fault code isn't an easy one to find.

I'm not denying that it won't help but there are a lot of simple checks on the K20 which have been mentioned in this thread that can be done.

I agree, however, you have to ask why a specialist can't find any problems. Just frustrating really. I can't do anything on mine until the weekend so I'll have a better idea of mine then.
