This has probably been asked before but, ive just got a DC5 after having an EP3 before; i bought a set of Zeta Rs for the EP3 but didnt get around to fitting them. Do i need EP3 track rod ends to fit them to the Teg?

I would message Meister for the specifics, all i know is they told me the taper size for the steering bracket on the DC5 kit is the same as the EP3 as the parts are easier to get hold of hence the need for EP3 track rod ends, not sure if there are any other differences.

Ok so if the taper size is the same why would you need to change them? Confuses me a little if Im honest, Is the track rod a different length?

Normal DC5 taper is 15-13mm, EP3 is 14-12mm so you will need ep3 track rod ends, just message Meister incase theres anything else you'll need as i know there is a minor difference in the rear suspension between DC5 and EP3.

I fitted MeisterR coilovers to mine just a few months ago, all I needed were the track rod ends (and bolts for them). Too mounts and bottom mounts are the same and bolt straight on no problem

There is correct, it is because the DC5 use a larger taper track rod end than the EP3, that is the only difference.
The EP3 is a UK stock part that you can get from Honda or any Motor Factor (Euro Car Parts for example).

The DC5 track rod end last I ask had a 6 weeks wait and was ridiculously priced.
So that is why we standardise the suspension so it makes replacement part easier because one day you will need to replace that track rod end, and the difference could be getting it off the shelf or waiting for a month and a half for them.

I understand now thanks guys, so is there any difference at the rear? Requiring spacers?

That's the bit I would be concerned about when taking an EP3 kit and using it on a DC5, Jerrick?

There is no problem, the difference is so little and it isn't a stressed part.
Honda typically do this just to make dampers non interchangeable between model.

Technically speaking, you can just drill the hole a little bigger to take the DC5 track rod end, but the issue is if you ever need replacement you will be in a world of pain.
I forgot the price I was told, but it was something like 4x more expensive and a 6 week wait for the DC5 track rod end.
DC5 isn't a UK car so Honda don't carry parts for it.

Another good point is if you ever think of selling your DC5, you can easily part the suspension back out as it will fit both DC5 and EP3.
Where if you had a DC5 specific coilovers, you are only limited to selling the suspension to DC5 owners.

lol,

so you are saying dc5 owners should change their trackrods (at extra cost) to ep3 ones just incase they go at some point ?? oh and so they fit your suspension ?

As pointed out the Lower mount is 2mm wider on a DC5, spacers should be fitted as the lower mount should fit 'snug' if its loose then it can wear prematurely and the mount is not properly supported. If you collapse the lower mount by bolting it up too tightly then you will struggle to fit std dc5 suspension back in the future.

Technically its not very easy at all for anyone to drill a tapered hole, taper drills are not easy to get hold of and not easy to use properly.

Honda DO carry parts for a DC5, it just depends which Honda dealer you speak to. there should be no problem getting track rod ends,

Thanks for the information i feel a little more comfortable now knowing what sort of issues i will have and how to get around them, nothing more annoying than brand new kit keeping a daily driver off the road. I'll get something to use as spacers for the back, the idea of the rear end being mechanically loose is particularily worrying with the amount of hammer my Teg gets haha. I can forgive needing a few bits as i admit buying the kit for the EP3.

haha... last time i bought a DC5 track rod end for my DC5 i don't remember being in a world of pain...lol

went to my local Honda dealer, sat in a comfortable chair, told him what i wanted and gave him my chassis number, a bit of idle chit chat while he looked it up on his computer, told me it would be ''3~4 days, we will call you when it's in''
4 days later back in his comfortable chair to collect it..

no pain at all really...

Haha i've got to say that my dad actually owned my car for 7 years before i got it and the only thing i can remember taking a while were gear linkages which were on back order and took roughly 6 weeks to come from japan.

Track Rod End: This was a decision I made ages ago while talking to Honda specialist.
It may have change by now, I don't know. But at that moment in time, we were desperately looking for DC5 track rod end because no one in UK had them.
Honda did not have them, specialist supplier say they can get them, but all come back with the same 6 weeks wait.

Rear Bush: We provide a spacer that are design to "hook" onto the bush so it is a tight fit for the DC5.
We didn't say just bolt a 40mm bush in hope it stay or give you some washers, that would be an unprofessional solution.

We made the kit so it is a bolt on solution for the DC5 owners, and the only difference is the track rod end because of stock supply issue we faced before.
We didn't just write DC5 on an EP3 kit and try to sell them to the community.

Cheers Jerrick, when i opened the kit in the first place i dont remember seeing these spacers but i admit that i was blown away by the quality of the Coilovers themselves and as i wasnt fitting them straight away; i didint dig right to the bottom of the box. Theyre currently burried in my conservatory along with a whole host of other bits i havent had time to fit. Thanks for clearing up my niggly questions i feel at ease now knowing the kit a bit better.

Yep, they are in the bag with all the spare bits, C-spanners, etc.
You will see it there, 4 little gold colour cap that are design to hook onto the rear bush.
