This forum is great!
Every piece of advice/comment from you guys help the newbie very much.
I did not even know that red torch is flare holder. I always see them in some auction photo, but thought it is just a light torch. How naïve I am?

Hey Stephen.

Cars are sometimes resold for profit at auction, so it's common,

Also your money is paying for the mileage for sure, VERY LOW.

Grade C is a shame for the money on the interior as that is above average wear for mileage but carpets can be cleaned and seat bolster foam can be replaced,

Andy,

Those photos are very good, proving some DC5 owner really take care their seats.

Yes it is a shame that money is going for Interior grade C. But like I said I was naïve and lacking patience, which is big learning lesion.
I don't see any good from the mid of Dec till the mid of Jan, then I thought interior C is acceptable if I further invest to restore it.

I see many other DC5 are in grade C, but not in such low mileage one. *.*

Yes, they said the price keep rising. It is all about Supply and Demand.

By 2001, the new import was around £23k, low mileage was about £19k

Should you spot any difference (apart from rear light), please let me know as reference. Thanks!

I believe the alphabetical rating is the interior, the car itself being Grade 4. From the photo's it looks immaculate underneath and outside, it looks to be a C-Package (rear privacy glass - tinted and the optional rear wiper but no optional wind deflectors, but these can be had for around £150 new if you wanted them).

So yeah you paid a lot of money but other than the seat this should be VERY clean! Make sure when you get it you treat the underneath of the bumpers and side skirts with some anti-rust protection to keep it that way. I wouldn't recommend asking TorqueGT to do that additionally as they didn't do a very good job - the main underseal was fine though.

Where's money shot (under the bonnet)? Maybe there are some nice after market parts lurking under it.

There is a photo, it's completely standard including what looks to be the original battery (to be expected for such low mileage).

What anti-rust protection would you recommend for the underneath of skirts and bumpers? I would research more about this later. Thanks!

ACF-50 would they be good? I used them for other car's rusty metal.

I only have experience with Waxoyl, which I used on the seams as the main metal was fine. I am looking into doing a more permanent protection when the weather is warmer :D

Check out Jimmer's and Gok's threads for some info :) (go back a couple of pages).

For cavities, I use Dynax S50, it's the same idea as waxoyl, but better. Made by Bilthamber.
Spray that into the chassis legs, inside rear arches, doors etc. Anywhere you can get it inside something.

For exposed parts, I've always used a rubberised, stone chip type spray. So it dries tough, but has enough give to not chip.

I actually like those rear lights

But you're probably best read up on rear light gaskets and seals as these can let in water and leak into the boot

Your first thread looks like there is an air freshener on passenger side corner of windscreen but there also seems to a little black thing in the middle which maybe is a stuck on thing?

Definitely, have kept reading the rear light gasket and seal DIY in forum. Very helpful. 1st task in my list.

Not sure what that little black thing is in the middle. Hopefully it is something that can be removed.
Dashboard repair is very difficult to me. I have tried in other car. The result is poor, including using Sharpie. *.*

I don't know how long it takes but I am not in rush, especially I have not told my wife yet. Normally a family man approaching 40 should go for 4-5 doors' car. I am a bit naughty this time for chasing a dream that I would be hesitated to do in 40s. LoL
