Yeah there are a couple for sale on here I'd be looking at.

Depends on the life and rebuild reasons.
For me 7k is tops, i've not spotted anything in the sale section I particularly like that's safely within budget unfortunately. I'm probably just a bit blind, though :')

And the fact it's had a rebuild wouldn't worry you it's led a excrement life?
To me, if somebody has paid for a gearbox rebuild then the car has been maintained with no expense spared!

I paid for new synchro, new 2nd gear assembly, a clutch and it wasn't cheap! Common with these cars, not something to be nervous of.

This is definitely why I'm here.

You guys are a fountain of knowledge!

I think labour alone was 600

I have also had this rebuild done to mine...certainly wouldn't put me off...in fact, it would be something I would look for if i had to buy another for whatever reason and would probably be a big big plus point!

Its not just the synchros that are a pain, but the hub assembly too...check its had that done aswell. Just changing synchros is half the problem cured, so if its had a "full rebuild" I should hope its neen done. Something to ask atleast

As it's 400 miles from me, I'm just trying to build up some knowledge on the car, I sound like I'm holding an interview on the email haha,

Jimmer, I will do!

Another vote for a rebuild being a bonus. Gearbox and or engine.
These cars are highly strung high revving and some 15+ years old! I would rather have a car at 100+k that has had the engine our and rebuilt than a car at 100+k that's not "yet" shown any signs of trouble. So long as the work is top class and someone else has broke the engine back in without problems then its good for another 100k.

Not to mention all the things that are nice to do at a 100k like chains, rings, pumps, vales and other internals. Also as mentioned above its not cheap so someone who goes through that as I did will have looked after their car.

PS..disclaimer, I aint selling mine! :)

I've had a look on uk honda parts and itr-dc2, do you know of any others?

Thanks :)
There are other dc5 or integra ones, can't think of what they are at the top of my head but will keep a look out when browsing

I would look at maintenance over mileage first. There are some high mileage ones here used as a daily but some of these owners have refreshed suspension, bushes, bolts, seals with little or no rust.

I think your £7k will get you a nice base car of sort; anything much below this tends needing money, time and effort getting back up to an average point IMO. Albeit you might strike lucky and owner just wants to get rid or unsure of market value.

I would not want one with a rebuilt engine unless it was done by a specialist. The K20 is no ordinary engine and I've seen many screw ups over the years by ordinary garages treating it as an ordinary engine. It's the same with the S2000, unless the rebuild is perfect you'll end up with lots of issues.

Yeah the one I found with the rebuilt box is up for 6500 spec:
Dc5 on a 02/03 plate imported 2010
105k on clock mixed
Fairly standard car,
Front arms polybushed
Buddy club exhaust system
Up rated discs and pads.
Few months ago it had a new clutch, and gearbox rebuild with up rated synchro's, 3rd gear was catching but I replaced all of them in the box while it was getting done. New det sensor fitted same time as well as a full service.
Interior is tidy, slight ware on bolster, comes with double din touch screen CD player.
Body work is tidy, no rust on arches, few age related marks but nothing to worry about.
Wheels are recently powder coated and fitted with 4 tr1,s
Recent new headlights from Honda fitted due to old ones were faded.
Car runs and drives spot, nothing needed done.

Well it needs 4 new tyres as T1R's are dog toffee.
And a CAT 1 alarm, I'd probably low ball a 6-62 offer to account for that tbf

And yeah haha, I've heard Toyos are wank!

Given the age of these cars, I think it's worth getting unknown ones on a ramp for a look underneath for rust.

Yeah I agree, I always learned with these to just get right under the car and really have a good luck.

A friend said don't be afraid to really swing on the arches to make sure they're solid

Edit: Of course, I don't have access to a ramp, so there's always an element of risk involved

Who rebuilt the box & installed the clutch?
A company called absolute car care did the work, a quick google says they seem to be reputable?

It's a toss up now as another car is up, but will need bushes which are quoted quite expensive to replace
