Under NCT (MOT) rules, DC5's in Southern Ireland should have washer jets aswell but I've never heard of anyone being told to fit them.

I think its to do away with or put people off them cheap hid kits rather than trying to ban them.

It definitely is but they going about it totally the wrong way

That is why to pass the sva test in uk they remove the hid units and put in standard bulbs for the sva test and initial mot then swap it back before they give you your care back. Useless information you wouldn't know unless you sva your car yourself.
