What's a man to do?

Sell it.Get any of the above. See you in six months.

You'll come back,they all do. 8)

3 or 4 of the guys on here,(You know who you are :-" :xcheers: ),are back in an Type R, & not there 2nd or 3rd either.

Go have your fun,we'll keep your spot warm for you. :green:
\:D/

Evo's are good but you do need a deep pocket- consider an Evo 5/6 over an 8/9. I drove an evo 8 MR recently and it did nothing for me, I much preferred my Evo VI. I would not own a French car EVER

As Chalkie has said, you will be back :)

All i have to say from a totally amateurs point of view. how many cars with light tuning that are NA have 230+ BHP? i don't think its more than a handful. Open to be contradicted. Just saying what i'm thinking :D

All modern cars seem quite dull to me really. Evo's, Imprezas, GTR's and all the german high performance cars. They are all electronicly nannyed and take control and therefore satisfaction from the driver.

I watched 5th gear last night and they had the Audi rs5, I thought theyre goes another rocket ship, designed to defy the laws of physics and subject your face to mind bending G forces, and thought that all these cars only appeal in the same way a roller coaster does (thrilling until you become desensitised and used to it) hence the ever increasing quest for more power more grip cleverer nannying.... You may as well be sat in the passenger seat and not have to fork out a penny, better still go to Alton Towers.

I do like the Lotus elise but soon they'll be joining the power, grip and computer control club.

I feel the only choice is to go retro! that way You actually get to improve your driving and be rewarded. I wont be the fastest round the track or off the lights but i'll be having the most fun! and also i wont be advertising the size of my P60 or anything else for that matter.

Totally agree....well said =D>.

Even some of the older cars without all the driving aids are numb and soulless. I've had an Evo 1 and an Evo 6, and both bored me to tears in standard form. Even the E1 only became fun after serious amounts of chassis work.

Keep the teg!......my advice is to go and test drive a few of the replacement cars you're considering buying, or, if you're lucky enough to have a mate or two that already owns something like an R26, evo, scooby, elise or whatever, then maybe they can give you a full on review/test from an owners point of view. Then go back and drive your teg.......i guarantee you'll think twice about selling it after you've experienced what else is on offer!......i sold my first dc5 and moved on to a monster power RX7, yes it was stupidly fast, but it was'nt FUN!...i went on to own several other beasts but in the back of my mind i ALWAYS missed the dc5 hence i'm back here, just as chalkie very wisely said...you'll be back!.....

Had a Revo MK4 Ibiza Cupra, bored the tit's off me, so,
Bought another DC5, had a little accident and then
Had an R26 for a year or so, great car but didn't set the world bonfire for me so

Very good topic, and I am doing the opposite of the OP. I left the DC5 scene in 2007, and have owned 2 Wolf Focus STs (circa 300 bhp) and am a current owner of a Mountune Focus RS (350 bhp). Now firstly, all 3 cars are amazing, and with the 1600 mile trip I do from time to time (I work in Germany) they devour the Autobahn. But despite the quality of the cars (the RS is absolutely amazing - even my Dad has one as a toy) they come nowhere near the Teg. I havent had the RS long but I havent stopped looking at DC5s for some months now, and when I sold my original one back in 07, I knew then it was a mistake, but the price I sold it for was too good to turn down. There is something about the DC5 that is amazing. Everyone will have their opinion, but out of them all I would say the looks is the most. How can a car still look that good, when it isn't Italian? Oh, and the VTec with a Gruppe M on, but I digress...........

Basically after all the pants I have just said above, I am in the market for a DC5, once I have sold the RS. But I do plan to have a bit of fun in this one first!

This is great ammo for the classic 'Ford vs Honda' argument..... cheers :D

keep the teg or buy a track standard evo...thats the only thing i would trade for.

It really depends what the op wants at the end of the day as its such a personal thing if you 'get' a car or not, one person could love it and the next could find it dull and lifeless.

If its just maximum fun i'd have to say an MX-5 as i think there possibly the most fun i've ever had in a car but depends what other things you need, i find i get bored of straight line speed pretty quickly so i'd have to be fun in the bends. and by fun i don't mean more grip just more entertaining, thats the thing i love about MX-5's so much is you have epic amounts of fun at sensible speeds as its not got that much grip or power.

But as he needs to transport a surfboard i don't know  M3 coupe would be nice as would a scooby or evo, thats where my test drives would be going anyway!

There isn't really an arguement to be honest, I just haven't got the Teg out of my system, where I have sold 2 STs and quickly got over them, and the RS I havent really had chance to get under my skin - I might be changing my mind in a few weeks! For me the Teg is like that amazing ex girlfriend everyone has had - no matter what you have afterwards, you're always reminded that you have already had the best!
