Car's at TGM, getting her back next week! See P5-6

*See page three*

I was looking at changing to a DC2 but I think my hand has been forced. I was involved with an accident this morning. The insurance companies are fighting it out about who takes blame, so obviously I can't really comment on any of the details. Damage seems to be cosmetic only, though that can't be confirmed till Tom at TGM does the estimate on the car and has a proper look at it.

I called A Plan Insurance and they were extremely helpful. They were going to have to car picked up and sent to a local approved garage to be repaired, to which I put a stop to and informed them that I'd only be happy if Tom does the required work. Tom couldn't pick it up today though but A Plan have managed to get a company to take the car down from Coventry to TGM. So at the moment it's on the back of a low loader hopefully near Fleet.

Once the estimate is complete and A Plan gives the go ahead for the work, it's simply a matter of time till I can pick her up. He'll obviously have to order some parts so when it's ready will depend on how long they will take to get there and for Tom to do the work.

I also asked A Plan about my declared mods, as the bonnet is damaged, and it should be replaced like for like, if not I'll be getting a standard one on there and a cheque for myself to order a new one.

Most importantly though, all people involved are OK and thankfully there were no injuries. Sh!t happens!

Oh, if anyone here works at an insurance company that could give me some independent advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear this mate :(
Good to hear no one was hurt though.
Hope it don't take too long to get it all sorted.
I take it A Plan didn't argue when you said you wanted it done at your choice of repairers, which i think is superb.
At least you now know it will be in good hands.

Well they were a bit sceptical at first as they wasn't sure how the car would get there with Tom not being able to do it today, so I just asked A Plan to call TGM and see if they could sort something out. Within an hour the low loader arrived with instructions to take it down there! The low loader was from some local pickey garage and the bloke had a right attitude with me, asking why they can't repair it and such like. I just told him that it's a bit of a specialist car and due to this I'd only want it repaired at a place where I know the job will be done right the first time. He went on lecturing me about the cars mods saying that "make sure they're declared or else they'll void the claim". I know he's right, and they are indeed declared, but the whole way the bloke spoke to me stank - says something about how they would have treat the car!

On a side note I've been told that I might have to go to Fleet myself to pick it up though once it's complete, but that's hardly an issue as loads of lads from work would do it for me. Still, A Plan are doing an amazing job so far. It's all well and good getting a good quote for the car, but it's the whole claims process where you need them to take care of everything and be confident that it's being dealt with by a dedicated team.

Why notlet us know what panels/bit need repair and we can guess the accident situation. - it could be a fun game

From what I could see:

Front bumper, splitter, O/S wheel arch liner, O/S front wing and the BC carbon bonnet (shatter lines) will need replacing. Possibly drivers door panel too. No PAS so the tank or one of the pipes has burst. Front right wheel got damaged. Car drove fine when I took it from the road to a car park so fingers crossed it's not damaged anything underneath but like I said, Tom should be looking under the skin today so I'll know more.

Since this will kill the re-sale I'll be keeping the car for 2-3 years now I think.
