Hmm, been on the PC Pro A-list for quite a while, I'll take their word for it... Not a big overclocker anyway, just thought it would be nice to have a processor that responds well to it!

Tron, that sounds like an awesome setup, I thought about getting a Mac and running a virtual Windows install on it, but I hate Apple with a passion (if Microsoft did some of the stuff they do, they'd be in a European court faster than you can say "uncompetitive practice"! Plus they absolutely rip musicians off...)

Building my new one this weekend:

  • [*:latnneut]Intel Q9300 with Freezer 7 Pro (gonna overclock this beauty, 45nm should show great results!)
[*:latnneut]GeForce 9600GT (good enough for me, I don't play any games on it!)
    [*:latnneut]4Gb DDR2 800Mhz
    [*:latnneut]Samsung 226 22" TFT + Acer 17" TFT
    [*:latnneut]2x Samsung 500Gb 16Mb drives in RAID0
[*:latnneut]MSI P35 Platinum mobo (nice copper cooling pipes!)

Sticking to XP Pro cos I want to be able to use all my old stuff and apparently it's more responsive anyway (but of course my lovely 4Gb RAM will be more like 3Gb... :( )
I wouldn't touch Samsung drives with a barge pole mate. You'd be better off getting some WD drives instead.

I refer to my earlier comment about PC Pro's A list...

Up to you, your money. Maxtor drives aren't the best around, plus if one goes wrong it's a tough job getting a replacement from them. Just my 2 p. I'll keep my Western Digital drives, hide behind my 5 year warranty and be safe in the knowledge that if something goes wrong they have an excellent returns procedure.

Nice sounds like a beast :) Play Crysis on it that will still bring it to its knees. Its such a beast of a game, you need a monster to run it at high resolutions.

Reccently upgraded the machine to 8Gb RAM and a 10,000rpm Raptor drive

Coupled with Windows 7 64bit it absolutely files! 8)

Have windows7 on a sony viao laptop running 2GB rams and is miles better than XP or vista. For once, MS has done something right... it seems very light and boots up superfast.

Can't wait to get my hands on Google's Chrome OS!
