You will not be dissapointed with that exhaust mate!
I am due to pick my car up from Torque GT soon, really excited about collection day.

My car is fitted with a Kakimoto catback system. I'm really hoping it sounds good and not like some of those horrible Civic exhausts haha!

Mate don't worry you won't have a shitty scene fart can with the Kakimoto!

You will probably have the "Full Mega N1"

Sounds lovely

Awesome, I think it's actually the Regu 06&R, but presumably I'll be spared the embarrassment of that hideous drone.

Can't wait to hear it, I've so far only been able to look at a few Youtube videos, which IMO never do the actual sound justice at all.

If it's a Regu your absolutely in for all out ear porn! I put one of mine on YouTube it's a Blue DC5 going downs country lane. That's quite a honest resemblance imo. No drone. Very much oem out of VTEC. On VTEC it's a different ball game! So nice!!!

Excellent, thanks for your opinion on it. I'll have another scour of Youtube for your video. To be honest, I've read good things about it so I'm very much looking forward to seeing what it is like in the flesh.

I think it will work well as I don't want anything too J's racing just yet, although time may sway me towards something a little more outlandish! :p

So tempted to order one from Japan myself. Is there still a good supply?
Yes quite a few coming through Japanese auctions still, although, less and less Grade 4's as time goes on.

Grade 4 is the best grade I take it? What do you get with importing, over getting one already in the UK? I'm actually going over to Japan in March, would I gain anything by going over by going to look at some (if I can wait that long, lolz)

Technically 6/S is best over all but that's literally for new cars!

Realistically a super clean DC5 will probably be a 4.5 but I've found that grading is so vague over the different auction houses. So it's still a gamble either way you look at it mate.

What are you after in a DC5? Are you looking for a really good example? Or something you would want to track with some nice parts already on?

Getting one over there as apposed to the UK is really to be the first UK owner and scene points y0! 😂 There is some fantastic examples in the UK for sale but also some absolute sheds. The good and bad ones are oceans apart in condition let me tell you!

From what I have seen after looking at many on the auction sites, a grade 4 will generally get you a good clean example, I have also noted that some of the auction houses are quite fussy, which is a good thing. There will be the odd thing on a grade 4, maybe a scuff or a ding but nothing major. I think I have only seen one grade 4.5 go through in the last few months and it probably went for big money. If you go through someone like torque GT they generally go after the grade 4 cars.

I was looking at importing through torque gt originally but I found it really hard not being able to see the car in the flesh before committing so I bought one that was already here in the end. Glad I did it that way, but everyone is different.

DC5 would to be a clean, tidy everyday car. I've got a UKDM EP3 for my track fun, going over to the ring in it tomorrow again.

I'd do a couple of bits to it, eibachs, FRSU, teg M intake and catback but that's it really. Just like them clean and preferably preface, in CW.

I've got a megane that's had a load spent on it, but even after the map and all that I still prefer the K20, but I'd miss LSD

Yep. I'd agree. The norm for these due to age etc etc is Grade 4. Mine was a 4B from Torque GT in early 2016.

I've seen a fair few 4.5s but as you say low low mileage and obviously commanding 5 figures for a PFL. Probably 10500 to 12k dependant.

preferably CW but I wouldn't be massively fussed. Just want one properly looked after and low(er) miles with zero rust.

Yeah I've been looking at all the ones for sale on here, FB, ebay, PH etc.

Looks a bit out the price range that one but smart. Is Y the first 'batch' of DC5 too? Would like a 52 on really but definitely preface.

Yeah Y is the earliest plate I think.

If you want low miles, in championship white, in very good condition, you may end up having to pay that sort of price. Mine is the last of the pre-facelifts on an 04 plate with 55k miles on it and was a very similar price to that one. I got some good mods with it, like gruppe m induction, bilstein coilovers with camber arms and FRSU, J's racing exhaust, baffled sump etc. Without the mods it would have probably been a little less.

That one I showed you that is still for sale still has some good mods on it as well.

My budget was originally like 8.5k haha. I soon realised I was too fussy and I justified the extra cost because I would have got all those mods done eventually anyway.

Yeah I'd be looking around 7-9k

Would take any colour really but would expect to pay less for not Cw?

I wouldnt want black seats though.
Main things would have to be sub 100k miles, coloured Recaros and zero rust/undersealed properly. And obviously not something that drank oil and didnt need a gearbox refurb :)

I think the most popular colour is white with red seats.

Sub 100k miles you can definitely get a good one, the going rate for a fresh import from importers with 70k-80k miles on it is around the 9k mark.

As for rust, if they were undersealed properly on import and cleaned regularly they should be ok. For piece of mind, mine is going in for fresh underseal and rust proofing of the inner arches next month, the undersealing was done on import 2 years ago but I can see a couple of places where it is starting to come off and I would hate to end up with rusty arches :xaiweb6:

If you find one with rusty arches or sills I would just walk away to be honest.
