I am running the T1-S/R's on 16" ROTA's and they have been fine. I'm using 205 50 R16 size. I've had no body roll problems, but I've not pushed them on the dry yet. Maybe you mate's tyre pressure is too low. I'm amazed he didn't want to try putting them on the front get get the most benifit.
Are you still selling everything you own? Let me know when the Toda is on the cards
I bet you will be selling body parts before that happens It might be too late anyway, I'm weakening and thinking about an early Christmas present for myself.
