Currently using Motul 8100v 5-40w fully synthetic and HAMP filter, Honda MTF and god knows what brake fluid as it was done just before i bought the car!!

so:

The Motul is a good oil, if you want to up grade then look at an ester based synthetic such as the Silkolene Pro S, Motul 300v and the Gulf Comp here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

For the gearbox either the Amsoil MTF or the Redline MTL here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-670-75w-80-75w-85-mtfs.aspx

Brake fluid, expensive but very very good is the Motul RBF600 http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-450-brake-fluid.aspx If you dont want to spend that kind of money then the Motul Dot5.1

Cheers

They're both fine, but for about the same money you can get one of the ester based 5w-40s that are the next step up

Hi Oilman,

I placed an prder at the start of the week,
Silkolene PRO S 5W-40 Ester Synthetic Oil For High Performance Engines -5 Litres
OIL FILTER: UFI spin-on oil filter 23.271.00 -single
NGK Spark Plug IFR7G-11KS (Opie Ref: 7746) -4 pack
x 2 Amsoil Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid MTF -1 US Quart (0.946L)

Only thing I wasnt sure about was the oil filter, not heard of the make before and wasnt sure whether to get a hona one or not,Are the UFI ones ok for the dc5?

Hi,

I have 02 dc5 with CAI and Mugen ecu. I use to buy Honda 5W 40 for 115 euros 5L, Now I shifted to Liqui Moli 0W 40. Costs 50 euro 5L.
What about the experience of driving: I didnt fill any difference between honda oil and liqui moil. Also my mechanic told me I can use this new oil for 10k km. Honda I use to change for every 2.5-3k km.

Also does the oil give HP? I have seen this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49kETjPZP9Y
The evo 6 shows 10KW difference between different oils.

What Oil u recommend to use? I am using my car for daily drive and drag sometimes.

Cheers

Hi David

Personally I don't like liqui moly as they are mainly an additive company and have made a lot of unproven claims with their additives (as pretty much all additive companies have). I don't have a lot of faith in their oils, as what I read about the oils seems to be linked to their additives.

A good 5w-40 from a reputable company is a better choice.

Simon,

Since having my DC5 k-pro'd, the oil temp has risen to around 85-90 degrees celsius under normal driving conditions (a rise of 5 degrees ish) and easily gets above the 100 mark when hooning it. Currently i'm using Pro S 5w/40. Should I upgrade to the 10w/50 or will the 5w/40 be ok still?

Temp's are taken from the oil filter and read on a Defi gauge, so about as accurate as they come :)

Cheers

I would stick with the 5w-40, its good to run around at 130degc all day long without breaking a sweat.

Hi,

I am just about to do an oil change on my Teg and thought i would check out this forum for advice and came across this thread.

After ordering the service pack from http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-f...ra/PETROL/integra/74940/product-finder-2.aspx i was confident in having the correct oil. Now i am left a bit confused as the oilman from Opie here, seems to suggest we use 5-40w rather then the 0-30w that it advises on the website.

Should i be sending it back or will i be all right?

Liam.

Road use with "good intentions" of doing a track day before next change.

The problem is that the service packs are based on a database of standard recommendations, rather than what me or Guy would suggest based on experience. Hondas aren't very fussy with oil, most can use anything between a 0w-30 and 10w-40 happily and a lot of the newer ones are often recommended to use something as thin as a 0w-20. To make a 0w-30, good quality basestocks need to be used, so the oil is a good one and will be fine for the car. You are welcome to swap it for another oil if you want, just follow the returns procedure on teh website
